Directly from Computex 2019 we bring you the new Asus ROG Crosshair motherboards and with AMD X570 chipset. Computex 2019 is being the scene of great news, and Asus always occupies a prominent place among our announcements. We have attended your conference and these are the new plates for Ryzen 3000 that you have prepared.
The new AMD X570 chipset stars
This AMD chipset is the direct successor of the X470, which come to meet the needs of the new AMD Ryzen 3000 processors that are coming to the market imminently. Specifically, it supports 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation AMD Ryzen CPUs with AMD Radeon Vega graphics. We already know that the AM4 socket boards that currently exist will also be compatible with these new CPUs, but X570 comes with many new features compared to X470.
And perhaps one of the most important is support for the PCI-Express 4.0 interface. Yes, we are talking about a capacity for 2 0 PCI 4.0 LANES, each one working at no less than 1969 MB / s in uplink and downstream, that is, double that of PCIe 3.0. The ability to RAID NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 is enabled , and the capacity for USB 3.2 Gen2 increases to a total of 8.
Now the number of phases has been increased to distribute the power of each one more equitably, thus achieving more contained temperatures, especially in overclocking processes where an extra stability is needed. The configuration is based on a PWM controller that manages two phases with independent MOSFETS and CHOKES.

SO-DIMM.2 with Heatsink |
This range of gaming motherboards is one of the most acclaimed and with the best features, along with the Strix series, of which we will also have a very good representation. Without further ado, let's see what each one offers us.
And in addition to the chipset and the PCIe 4.0 slots, another of the most important novelties is the support for Wi-Fi 6 under the 802.11ax protocol that will significantly increase the speed of the Wi-Fi implemented on the board.
The brand has also put a lot of emphasis on its new power phases, which are improved and optimized for overclocking processes, and above all to protect this new 7nm architecture from AMDs.
Asus Crosshair VIII Formula
It is about the evolution of the X570 chipset and it is positioned as the highest performance plate of this family, it is not for nothing that it bears the last name Formula. It will emerge as one of the best performance boards for high-end Ryzen 3 CPU and overclocking with 16-phase VRM.
It is an ATX motherboard that acquires the aesthetics of the ROG MAXIMUS top of the brand range with the double heatsink in the VRM prepared for liquid cooling with lighting and the entire area of PCI slots and chipset covered by an aluminum plate with RGB AURA lighting Sync. Similarly, the entire rear area is reinforced with an aluminum backplate that provides rigidity to the set. Come on, pretty much like a MAXIMUS XI.
It is presented with a capacity for 128 GB of RAM in 4 DIMM slots, which will also be one of the novelties of the new range, three PCIe 4.0 x16 slots and a PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. They also significantly increase the amount of USB with 7x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A and 1x Type-C, alongside 4x USB 3.1 Gen1. Be careful because we don't have an integrated video output. Regarding storage, we have a double M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for new generation units.
And we also have a lot of news in network connectivity, with a 5 Gigabit / s Aquantia 5G LAN chip along with another normal 1 Gbps Intel I211AT connection. And finally friends, we have Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, thanks to the Intel Wireless-AX 200 chip. It will offer us a speed of 2, 402 Mbps on the 5 GHz frequency and 574 Mbps on the 2.4 Ghz frequency on 2 × 2 MU-MIMO connections in both cases. There will also be no lack of Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (normal and Wi-Fi)
The next in the list are two Hero boards, in Wi-Fi versions and without connectivity of this type. Of course, the one with Wi-Fi also has the same Intel Wireless-AX 200 chip. But in both cases, these boards have dual LAN connectivity, with a 2.5Gb / s Realtek 2.5G LAN chip and 1Gb / s Intel I211AT.
Both versions have 3 PCIe 4.0 x16 slots and one PCIe 4.0 x1, 8 SATA 6 Gbps ports and the two respective M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. The port panel has exactly the same number of USB ports as in the previous case and does not come with integrated graphics video connectivity either.
We also have a Mini-DTX that we will see in more detail in another article where we explain all the ITX that are coming.
Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Impact
The last board available in this family is somewhat special, since it is presented in a Mini-DTX configuration to be able to mount small Gaming computers with high-end Ryzen 3.
For reasons of space, this board offers a maximum of 64 GB of RAM with its two DIMM slots and only one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for GPU. Along with its 4 SATA 6 Gbps ports, we have the two rigorous M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. The rear port panel offers connectivity for 5x USB 3.1 Gen2 + 1x Type-C and two gen1 USBs. Also in this case we do not have a rear video connector, a constant in the range.
We also lose dual wired LAN connectivity, and are left with only one RJ-45 GbE port. But as it should be on any board oriented to Mini-PC, we do have Wi-Fi 6 again. This board has RGB AURA lighting throughout the side area.
