First of all, we thank Asus for the trust placed in ceding the product to us for analysis.

Unboxing and design

Asus has opted for a gala presentation for its ROG Gladius II and ROG Strix Evolve mice, since both are offered in cardboard boxes with a very colorful design and the best print quality.

The boxes display high-resolution images of the mice, as well as their features and specifications in multiple languages, including Spanish.

Unboxing of the Asus ROG Gladius II

We open the boxes and we find the mice and the documentation, all very well arranged to avoid suffering any type of damage during transport. Asus has taken great care to ensure that the product reaches the end user's hands in perfect condition.

We present you the Asus ROG Strix Evolve

We highlight that Asus ROG Gladius II and ROG Strix Evolve are two mice that have been designed to last a long time, that is why the manufacturer has put together OMRON switches of the best quality, these guarantee a useful life of 50 million keystrokes, which is why we can get an idea of its quality. They are very smooth and pleasant mechanisms to press.

We now turn to see the peculiarities of each mouse, the Asus ROG Strix Evolve is a model with a 7200 DPI optical sensor, a sampling rate of 150 IPS and an acceleration of 30G, of course they have a polling rate of 1000 Hz to achieve maximum precision and reliability when following the movement of the user's hand.

At the top we see the two main buttons, next to the volume wheel and a button, which is configured to change the DPI of the sensor to flight, this button is fully configurable, through the Asus ROG Armory application, which we will talk more about ahead. The wheel is rubberized, to achieve a better grip on the finger and that it does not slip when using it.

We move to the left side of the Asus ROG Strix Evolve, here we see two additional programmable buttons, and which are already present in all the gaming mice on the market, these also mount OMROM switches for great durability, their touch is hard and firm, showing the great quality they have.

Under the buttons a piece of rubber has been placed, to improve the grip on the hand and prevent the mouse from flying out in sudden movements. One of these rubber pieces has also been placed on the right side.

The back has been the chosen place to install the lighting system.

At the bottom we see the Pixart 3330 optical sensor and Teflon surfers for a very smooth glide on the mat.

Detail of the braided cable with gold-plated USB connector. It is 2 meters long, more than enough to connect it to our tower and feel free with it.

The aesthetics has also been a very careful aspect, both mice mount an advanced RGB LED lighting system, fully compatible and configurable through the Asus Aura Sync application. We can choose between 16.8 million colors and multiple lighting effects, this will make the appearance on our desktop really spectacular. We can also make the lighting go in line with that of our motherboard.

Now the Asus ROG Gladius II in detail

We now turn to see the peculiarities of the Asus ROG Gladius II, this is a superior model and mounts the best ear sensor on the market, the PixArt PWM 3360 with a sensitivity of 12, 000 DPI, a sampling rate of 250 IPS, an acceleration of 50G and the same 1000 Hz polling rate as its younger brother.

The button layout at the top is the same as the previous model, the difference is that they are slightly curved, to improve comfort when resting your finger on them, something that more demanding users will appreciate. In this case the wheel is larger, and is also part of the lighting system. It also differs in that the main buttons are made up of two separate pieces.

Asus includes two pairs of interchangeable switches OMROM D2F and D2FC, these have a slightly different touch, so that the user can adapt the mouse to the maximum, to their preferences and tastes. The design of interchangeable mechanisms of this mouse, will allow us to change them when they wear out so that they can continue using it as the first day.

Another difference is found on the left side, a third button has been placed, which is configured for sniper mode, this what it does is to lower the DPI to a minimum so that we have great precision when aiming with our sights rifle.

On the back we find the brand logo that is part of the lighting system.

In the lower area we see the sensor and Teflon surfers. There are also the screws that we will have to remove to disassemble the mouse and be able to change the switches, the process is extremely simple.

A peculiarity of the Asus ROG Gladius II is that its cable is detachable, something that will make it easier for us to transport it to events, or to our friends' house to give them a little envy. This cable offers a low friction design to improve the smoothness of the mouse glide.

And now a couple of images of how it looks on and its RGB lighting system.

software

As we have already seen in the other pack of ROG mice from Asus. With the ROG Armory application we will have the possibility to create custom profiles, give special functions to each of the buttons, improve mouse performance (DPI, Hz…), RGB lighting, automatically update the mouse firmware and be able to correctly calibrate our mouse to the surface that we are using it.

Final words and conclusion about Asus ROG Gladius II and ROG Strix Evolve

Both the Gladius II and the Strix Evolve are on the crest of the wave of the best gaming mice on the market. They both feature two of the best sensors out there: PixArt 3360 and 3330 (respectively), quite a few custom buttons, a pricey lighting system, and great build quality.

Asus again shows that it has nothing to envy to brands like Corsair or Logitech in peripherals. Since they have tremendous finishes, first-rate components and super cool lighting.

We recommend reading the best mice on the market

Oddly enough… I personally really liked the Strix Evolve. It is super comfortable to play shooter games and the large number of buttons allows you to get the most out of playing. Although the sniper button of the Gladius II allows us to lower the DPI quickly to "snipe" calmly.

Let us not forget! Both scrolls are very quiet and are you happy to work with them on a daily basis?

The Asus ROG Gladius II is in online stores for 84 euros, while the Strix Evolve we see it for about 70 euros. It is clear that they are not cheap mice and that there is a lot of competition between 50 to 100 euros. But they are a great option for enthusiastic users.
