Intel plans to launch new X-series processors next month, hoping to offer more value for money than ever with its new Cascade Lake-X series CPUs. Alongside them, ASUS is announcing new updated X299 motherboards: ROG Rampage VI Extreme Encore and ROG Strix X299-E Gaming II.

Manufacturers plan to release updated X299 motherboards, hoping to offer new features and improved VRM designs compared to their predecessors. This is where ASUS 'new ROG Rampage VI Extreme Encore and ROG Strix X299-E Gaming II come into play.
Both motherboards are listed with DDR4 memory support at speeds up to 4266MT / s in OC mode and the motherboards offer WiFi 6 and high-speed ethernet connectivity. The M.2 multi-slot support is also seen and they can support three 16x PCIe connections in an x16, x16, x8 configuration.
ROG Rampage VI Extreme Encore
The ROG Rampage VI Extreme Encore is ASUS 'high-end X299 offering, supporting a total of four M.2 slots and eight SATA ports. The motherboard is also delivered with an Aquantia AQC-107 10Gb Ethernet port and support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.

The Rampage VI Extreme Encore features robust 16-phase VRM, allowing the card to overclock Intel's high-end X299 chips with ease. ASUS has designed this board to handle "absurd" amounts of energy, while containing a cooling solution that will keep your VRMs cool on charge. Two compact fans are connected to the heatsinks on this motherboard offering additional cooling.
ROG Strix X299-E Gaming II
ROG Strix X299-E Gaming II has a 12-phase VRM, while a two-piece cooling solution is designed to handle X299 overclocking. Like the Rampage VI Extreme Encore, this motherboard also comes with a small 40mm fan to be used to help cool down VRMs when needed.
The Strix also supports up to 256GB of DDR4 memory and can support memory DIMMs that are as fast as 4266MT / s. It also has WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5 support.
