Asus rog mothership is like a 'surface' laptop for gamers

During CES 2019, ASUS surprised everyone with the announcement of its ROG Mothership (GZ700) laptop, a 17.3-inch screen 'gaming' laptop with a vertical design, a Surface-style hinge and a detachable folding keyboard. It's basically a Microsoft Surface laptop taken to the extreme for gamers.

Compared to the Surface, the ROG Mothership is much bigger: It has a huge 17.3-inch screen that offers 1080p resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 3ms response time, and supports G technology. -Nvidia sync. The laptop is equipped with an Nvidia RTX 2080 in its portable version and the chosen processor is the Core i9-8950HK overclocked, although they have not detailed how far. ASUS promises that the ROG Mothership has an improved cooling system thanks to its vertical design, which allows for increased air flow within the case.

The amount of RAM memory amounts to 64GB DDR4 with storage that is carried out through RAID 0 with up to three SSD drives.

There's a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, a standard USB-C port, four USB Type-A ports, HDMI, an SD card slot, and an Ethernet port, along with the seemingly necessary 280W dual charging ports, which laptops demand 'gaming'.

It will be available in the first quarter of 2019

ASUS has used a magnetic keyboard mount and demount system, which can be used wirelessly, although it is also possible to connect via USB if latency is an issue.

With all the components the ROG Mothership has, we didn't expect it to be lightweight. In total the equipment weighs about 4.6 kilograms, so we cannot say that it is completely 'transportable'.

ASUS ROG Mothership will be available later in the first quarter of 2019. Pricing and exact specification configurations will be announced at launch.
