Asus ROG Strix XG35VQ technical features
Unboxing and design
Asus gives us a full color presentation of the Asus ROG Strix XG35VQ. Where an image of the product stands out and in large letters the model we are dealing with. Asus does not surprise us and as always takes care of every last detail, since it is protected inside it by two pieces of cork. These pieces of cork have several departments inside, so all the accessories come very well organized and perfectly separated and protected.
Inside we come across the following bundle or accessories:
- Base removed. A driver installation disc.
The power supply and power cable
.1.5 meter HDMI cable
that will come in handy, Displayport cable, ROG methacrylate and extra to customize it to your liking.
The Asus ROG Strix XG35VQ is a monitor built in a dark gray plastic frame. If it is the first time that we see an Ultra Wide monitor, without a doubt, it will surprise us very pleasantly.
It becomes one of the new Asus flagship. Since it stands out for the inclusion of a panel with excellent image quality, specifically it is a unit with a size of 35 inches that reaches a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels along with a VA panel. This figure is spectacular for users who want to squeeze and enjoy in the gaming world. But the good thing about this panel is that it allows us to have the best of IPS panels: good colors (not so vivid) but perfect blacks (the best of TN).
Continuing with its characteristics we find a contrast of 2, 500: 1 and a maximum brightness of 300nits, 100Hz of refreshment and a response time of 4ms. We finish off your internal specs with a 1800R curved design and 4 color temperature modes.
We leave you some images of image quality and viewing angles. Our 2.20 meter desk is a little "small" with this monster. Recall its dimensions are 834.7 x (468.3 ~ 567.2) x 317.3 mm and weighs "only" 12.2 kg.
We are quite happy with the final result, but the image quality is lower than the Asus PG348Q that I have for daily use. Since this resolution is quite comfortable to work with double windows. For example, can we have two browsers open: Web + Forum?
If you have components or peripherals with ASUS Aura technology , you can synchronize it with the LED light ring located in the rear area. And that we can combine with our ROG components!
Although the base is not the best, at least at my table it does not fit me very well. When we turn on the monitor we can configure it to throw a light with the ROG logo or personalize yours with a piece of methacrylate. The biggest problem we see is that it takes up a lot of space and it is highly recommended to purchase an articulated arm.Among its rear connections we find:
- 1 x HDMI (v1.4), 1 x DisplayPort 1.2 and 1 x HDMI (v2.0) Input and sound output USB 3.0 connections.
Among its novelties we find ultra-reduced blue light technology that protects against this type of light harmful to your sight, and allows us to adjust up to four levels. Do not forget about the important anti-flicker technology that improves the gaming experience and prevents eye strain, which is highly recommended for those users who are stuck playing for many hours.
I would also like to highlight the possibilities that GameVisual offers. From the factory it presents 6 profiles that allow adjusting to different common usage scenarios: FPS, sRGB, RTS / RPG, Cinema, Racing and landscapes. Lastly, it should be noted that it incorporates the exclusive GamePlus technology that offers an improvement in the vision of games with its three profiles (Crosshair / Timer / FPS Counter / Screen alignment).
OSD menu
As we are used to, ASUS offers us a very good OSD with excellent quality. Among its options it allows us to adjust GameVisaul technologies , Blue light, image color, image format, profile selection and image inputs. You could spend many hours modifying and modifying until you find your ideal profile.
Final words and conclusion about Asus ROG Strix XG35VQ
The Asus ROG Strix XG35VQ is a 35-inch monitor with a VA panel, 100 Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync technology, 1800R curve and a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels. To give a more professional opinion about the monitor, we have used it for several days in the following situations:
- Daily use: This resolution is ideal for those users who want to use it with multi-windows or do several actions at the same time without having to purchase two monitors. In our case it has been super useful! Since it allows us to have design applications on one side and on the other side to edit content on the web. The same goes for the office automation package or web browsing. Multimedia: The problem with 21: 9 monitors in multimedia is that there are two black stripes on both sides when we are watching a movie, series or video on YouTube. There are applications that allow rescaling, but personally I don't like the result too much. In the end we get used to it, but if you are going to use it to watch many videos we recommend other more standard resolutions: 1080, 2.5K or 4K. Games: We had a great time with the immersion of the monitor while we played. Although there are games like overwatch that do not allow using this resolution because it is considered a “cheat”, others like Doom 4 or Tomb Raider give us a great feeling.
How about the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti at 100 HZ with this resolution? It has been defended very well and without almost any micro-cut, but if we want to get the most out of it, we should either buy a second 1080 Ti or wait for the new generation of Nvidia Volta graphics cards.
We recommend reading the best monitors on the market
Coming soon to Spanish online stores and is expected with a recommended price of 999 euros. The difference from the Asus PG348Q is just 89 euros and we believe that depending on your needs you will opt for one or the other. Being the Asus PG348Q ideal for gaming and working, while the Asus ROG Strix XG35VQ is a perfect candidate for just playing.
