ASUS monitor with Display Stream Compression announced at E3 2019

During the AMD Next Horizon event , ASUS ROG has taken the stage to present this interesting monitor. We don't have a confirmed name yet, but we do have its specifications.

Commercial image of the ASUS ROG monitor with Display Stream Compression

It will be a 43 ″ monitor at 4K UHD resolution and uses the industry standard DSC (Display Stream Compression) to reach 144Hz refresh rate with a single DisplayPort cable . Similar to classic image compression, it is expected to be very faithful to the original thanks to the use of chroma subsampling. Navi graphics will be specially prepared for the optimal use of this technology, which is why it has been presented at the AMD stand .

And best of all, this is not the only thing that this gigantic monitor will bring, since we will also have FreeSync 2. With this, the images will look fluid at all times in addition to being compatible with HDR . Considering that it is an HDR 1000 screen , the content that we see with this standard will be very good at best. On the other hand, the color depth will be 10 bits , as is common, and the monitor covers 90% of the DCI-P3 color space .

We do not have more data or date of departure, or final price so if you are interested, stay tuned to the next news. When it is released, we will try to test it to see how good or bad it really performs.

And to you, what do you think of the ASUS ROG screen? Do you trust the implementation of Display Stream Compression ? Tell us your ideas below.
