Stongbox, leader in high performance computing machines (HPC) has teamed up with Asus to create the world's most powerful Octane rendering system thanks to the use of a total of 8 GPUs for enormous processing capacity.

Asus and Strongbox beat Octane rendering record

The previous record in the Octane rendering test was in the hands of a system with 8 GeForce GTX Titan Xp graphics cards with which a score of 1498 points is reached, the new creation of Strongbox and Asus has been able to reach 1620.82 points thanks using eight ASUS GTX 1080 Ti cards based on the Taiwanese Turbo model.

It is not known if the cards have operated overclocked or at their reference speed, what is known is that the temperature has been maintained at 51ºC at full capacity with an ambient temperature of 22ºC without air conditioning. The great merit of this system is that it is cheaper than the one based on the Titan Xp despite being significantly more powerful.

Just a few hours after breaking the record on Octane, the system used has been assembled at London's Jellyfish Animation to work on rendering tasks 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The cost of this joint Asus and Strongbox system has not been announced but production of more units is expected in the future for very demanding rendering jobs.
