A mysterious new AMD Athlon 3020e processor, an APU-type CPU with integrated iGPU that is designed for budget notebooks, has made its appearance.

AMD will expand the Athlon family of processors for notebook computers with the Athlon 3020e, which is already on one of HP's notebooks. Thanks to this, we have the opportunity to evaluate the characteristics of this APU even before the official premiere.

The AMD CPU architecture has evolved to 7nm Zen 2. However, in the low-end entry-level field, the original 14nm Zen is still in service, and is crowned with the classic Athlon brand, including the desktop Athlon 200GE or Athlon 3000G series. We also have the Athlon 3000U, and they are all APUs with an integrated graphics core.

Recently, a mysterious "AMD 3020e with Radeon Graphics" appeared in the GeekBench database. The corresponding official model should be Athlon 3020e, which is also an APU.

The processor was identified with two cores without specifying the number of threads, 4 MB of L3 cache, the reference frequency is only 1.2 GHz and the maximum acceleration is 2.4 GHz. It looks exactly the same as an Athlon 200GE, Athlon 3000G, Athlon 3000U, but the frequency is too low. This should be a variant focused on ultra low power saving.

The chip comes from a Hewlett-Packard (HP) device, but it's hard to tell if it's a desktop or laptop. The latter is more likely from the point of view of frequency. It can be an OEM model. We will keep you informed.
