Mechanical keyboards are the best when it comes to writing or playing but the truth is that their price is much higher than membrane keyboards, or at least it was until very recently since we can already find very cheap models on the market and that promise to offer us all the benefits of mechanical switches. One of these is the Aukey KM-G7 which is offered in a TKL format and with Outemu Blue switches to offer an excellent writing experience.

First of all we thank Aukey for having given us the product for analysis.

Technical characteristics Aukey KM-G7

Unboxing and design

The Aukey KM-G7 comes to us in a minimalist presentation led by a box of very contained dimensions and a design of the simplest with the intention of reducing costs to the maximum and that each euro paid is for what is hidden inside. Once we open the box we find the keyboard very well protected by a bag and several pieces of foam, along with the documentation and nothing else.

It is time to focus our eyes on the Aukey KM-G7 keyboard, it is a very compact unit with dimensions of 39.6 x 17.4 x 6 cm and a weight of only 1, 000 grams. A very compact and light keyboard that is very easy to transport so that we can take it with us wherever we go. The entire keyboard is made of black plastic that looks good quality although it is true that if we press it sinks a little, nothing serious.

Aukey KM-G7 is a mechanical keyboard with Outemu Blue mechanisms that are characterized by providing both tactile and sound feedback to the user, therefore they are not the quietest among the entire repertoire offered. These switches have the peculiarity of being made up of two elements and that allow them to have both a tactile and an audible response when pressed by the user. These mechanisms have a 2.1 mm activation stroke and a maximum stroke of 4 mm with an activation force of 47 grams. The fact of having two parts makes their pulsation very comfortable since they are very soft mechanisms in the first half of their journey while in the second part they become harder.

These are switches specially indicated for users who need to write large amounts of text in their day-to-day tasks, thanks to their special touch, fatigue on the fingers and wrists will be less than that produced by other mechanisms. They are also good mechanisms for gamers although we will need a period of adaptation to their peculiar touch, especially if we come from a membrane keyboard.

The characteristics of the Aukey KM-G7 continue with a 1000 Hz ultrapolling and Anti-Ghosting technology with 26 n-Key Rollover (NKRO), so the keyboard is capable of detecting the simultaneous pressing of up to 26 keys without collapsing and it will give us problems playing. It has a total of 12 multimedia keys to access the most common controls in a very comfortable way and the gaming mode that will prevent us from accidentally pressing the Windows key.

In the back we find two folding plastic legs that allow us to slightly lift the keyboard for greater comfort of use if the user considers it appropriate.

Aukey KM-G7 presents an RGB lighting system that we can regulate in intensity and light effects, we have a total of 12 light effects among which we highlight some as popular as static lighting, wave effect, breathing, sweeping and several more. Best of all, the lighting is controlled without the need for any special software so we can manage it in the most comfortable way possible using key combinations.

At the end of the cable we find the USB connector, the cable is not braided but finished in rubber.

Final words and conclusion about Aukey KM-G7

First of all we must bear in mind that the Aukey KM-G7 is priced at just 28 euros on Amazon, possibly the cheapest mechanical keyboard that we can find on the market and above all in a store that gives us its two-year warranty and the possibility of returning it without fault during the first month.

Despite having such a low price, the keyboard does not seem of poor quality at any time, it is true that its chassis can yield a little under pressure but unless we start punching it, it will not break. Its Outemu switches we have already seen the keyboards that cost 4 or 5 times more money and work really well, I am used to a keyboard with Cherry MX Red and I have adapted without any problem and very quickly. These mechanisms have not given me a single problem during the several days that I have been using the keyboard. We also highlight 1000 Hz and 26 n-Key Rollover (NKRO) ultrapolling technologies for flawless operation.

We continue with its RGB lighting system that offers us various light modes, this is managed through key combinations and is quite limited since we cannot change the colors but only the light effects, this means that if we put it with all the Fixed illuminated keys will be of various colors and we cannot put all of them, something to keep in mind if you do not like to see several colors on your keyboard.

Currently, there is a lot of competition between mechanical keyboards to play . But without a doubt, the Aukey KM-G7 is the cheapest we can find and on top of that with its two-year warranty, it is a mandatory purchase for all those who have not tried a mechanical keyboard.
