One of the great surprises of this last time has been the announcement of native Bash support in Windows 10, that is, support for Linux programming commands natively in the system. For some time now, you could run Linux code on Windows but now it will be much easier to do it with this new update.

Bash is now available in the latest BUILD 14316

It has taken less than a week for Microsoft to launch a new Windows 10 update that brings this new functionality, in this case BUILD 14316 which is currently available to users of the Microsoft Insider program. The times when "Linux was a cancer" seems to be a thing of the past and the current CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadellla, wants Windows and Microsoft products to be present in all ecosystems, not only Linux, but also Mac and Android.

Microsoft will use the Bash command interpreter or its tools whenever it sees fit, as we saw with the announcement of SQL Server for Linux or support for the free system on its cloud platform, Azure. With Bash, which is also already available in the Windows 10 store, we will be able to execute Linux commands such as sed, awk, grep, and you can even try the first Ruby, Git or Python tools, directly in Windows 10.

The appearance of Bash Windows 10

It is important to clarify that this is not an integration of Ubuntu in Windows but the integration of a Linux developer tool, Bash cannot work with Windows applications nor does it replace the classic PowerShell command prompt.

Bash and other exciting news are expected to be part of the huge " Anniversary " update that will be officially released for all Windows 10 users on July 29.
