BIOSTAR announced today that its 300 series motherboards have a BIOS update available that offers compatibility with the new ninth generation Intel Core 'Stepping R0' processors.

These are the BIOSTAR motherboards compatible with the new Intel Core 'R0' CPUs

We are still not clear what these new Intel Core 'R0' processors will provide compared to the current ones with Stepping P0, but BIOSTAR has already done its homework to support them on a large number of their motherboards.

Intel has not officially said what this change introduces at the silicon level. It could be changes in the TDP, increase in frequencies, or any other changes at the silicon level, for now, we are in a nebula regarding the details. Put to speculate, we do not believe that they are too revolutionary changes, in fact, it is possible that they bring changes internally to solve the problems of attacks on the speculative execution of Meltdown and Specter.

The latest BIOS updates are available from the official BIOSTAR website and cover almost all ranges of H310, B360 and Z370 chipsets. Other manufacturers like ASRock, MSI or Gigabyte have already updated their motherboards for these new chips.
