How to add a shortcut to airdrop in the macos dock
Table of contents:
Without a doubt, one of the most useful functions that Apple offers us on its devices is AirDrop since it allows us to send and receive files wirelessly between Mac computers, between iOS devices, and between Mac and iOS, as long as they are close the sending team and the receiving team. Generally, it is accessed from the Finder sidebar, but today we will see a way to start AirDrop directly from the Dock on your Mac.
Sharing with AirDrop even faster
Having a direct access to AirDrop in the Dock of your Mac will allow you to access it from any screen, independently of the application you are currently using, and without having to first open a Finder window. If you use AirDrop on a daily basis, I am sure you will appreciate pinning this feature to the macOS dock. Let's see how.
First, open a Finder window or just click anywhere on the Desktop.
Then in the Finder menu bar, select Go → Go to folder.
Copy and paste the following directory path into the dialog and press Enter: /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Applications/
In the next window, all you have to do is select the AirDrop icon with the mouse and drag it to the desired place in the Dock, as if it were any other app.
Once in the desired place, release and close the Finder window.
From now on, when you want to share any file using this technology, simply click on the AirDrop icon in your Mac's Dock. By the way, don't forget that you can also drag the iCloud Drive app from the Finder in the same way, to quickly access with a single click the files and folders that you have stored in the cloud.
