Torrent networks are increasingly popular when it comes to sharing files, so their use is increasing. Generally, shared files are large, so it is important to optimize the download speed as much as possible to reduce waiting time. In this post we give you some tips to speed up the download speed of your Torrent files.

Choose the Torrent client well

This is the first step and it seems the most logical, choosing a Torrent client that is easy to use and that works well is essential to achieve the maximum download speed in the files. One of the best we can find is µTorrent, it is a free client, very simple and minimalist but it offers everything you need and is easy to use. This will be the client on which we will base the following tips, other good options are Transmission and qBittorrent.

Optimize the torrent client

Once you have chosen the Torrent client that we are going to use, it is very important to configure it correctly, in the case of µTorrent there are few options that we have to touch since in its default configuration it already works great. In this sense, the most recommended is to balance the upstream bandwidth with the downstream bandwidth and optimize the number of simultaneous connections so as not to collapse the line.

Torrent networks offer higher download speed to users who use a higher upload speed, you may think that the best thing would be to maximize the upload speed, but this can saturate your line and run out of download speed. We recommend that you set your upload speed to around 80-90% of your maximum upload speed. For the download speed, keep a value of 0 that does not set any limit.

As for the Maximum number of total connections, we recommend a value equal to or greater than 160 and in Maximum number of comps connected by Torrent a value greater than 130.

Choose the best torrents

Many times we find different versions of the torrent to download a file, so it is very important that we choose the best one so that the transfer speed is optimal. In all Torrents we find two very important indicators: the Seeders or seeds and Leechers.

Seeders represent the users who have on their computer and share the file you want to download, that is why the higher this value is the better. In contrast, Leechers are the users who are downloading the same file, as they complete the download they can become Seeders.

Our advice is that if there are several versions of the same Torrent, choose the one with the highest number of Seeders and that these are superior to the Leechers.

Make its way through the firewall

The firewall can reduce the download speed of Torrent files, therefore, it is important to add an exception so that the connection is not blocked and can work at full speed. To do this, all you have to do is access your firewall and add the Torrent client to the exceptions, in our case µTorrent and the Windows firewall.

Add updated trackers

Trackers are intermediate servers which connect the Torrent clients of the users who share the Torrent files with those of the users who want to download them. This improves the connection between the two to optimize the download speed. To add the trackers, right click on the download in progress and choose properties, now go to advanced and web seeds. Once there you can paste the updated trackers.

Now you will be thinking about where you get the tracks that we have pasted in the previous step, is there a website that provides an updated list, but do we let you investigate it yourself?

Here ends our tutorial on how to increase the download speed in Torrent files, remember to share it on social networks so that it can help more users.
