So if you try to save space by storing your files on another drive, the best thing you can do is change the location of the default folders of the operating system. If you do this, Windows will move those folders and all of their files to the new location. The applications will also make use of the new location, as they are designed to take advantage of these standard folders.

To change the default hard drive, click on the Start menu and then choose the "Settings" option, or click directly on the Windows + I combination.

In the configuration window, click on " System ". In this window, choose the "Storage" tab on the left, and then scroll down to the " Change the location of new content " section. In this case, you only have to use the drop-down menus to change the locations to save the new contents depending on the type of file (documents, music, images and videos).

If you choose a removable storage drive as the default storage location and then remove it from your computer, Windows will automatically save the files to the original location of your C drive until you reconnect the removable drive.
