How to configure your new iphone or ipad using automatic configuration

If you have in your hands a new iPhone or a new iPad that they have given you, or you have given yourself, for having been good during the past year and also, you already have a device that runs on iOS 11 or higher, configure the new terminal It will be much easier and faster if you take advantage of the automatic configuration.

When you buy a new device, the Automatic configuration will appear automatically, but you will have to follow the following steps to carry it out successfully:

1. First of all, turn on your new iPhone or iPad. As usual, a menu will open asking you to choose a language for your terminal. After that, you will see on the screen the indication to "Set up your iPhone (or iPad)." When this appears, place your device with iOS 11 or higher near the new iPhone or iPad to start automatic setup.

   

   On your previous device, you will see a pop-up window informing you that you can use Automatic Configuration. Press Continue to begin. In the next step, a pairing image that has the same style used to pair an Apple Watch will appear on the screen of the new device. Scan this image using the camera of your previous device. To do this, make sure that you have adequate lighting in the room where you are carrying out the setup process so that both devices are paired correctly.As an obvious security measure, in addition to scanning that image, the new device will prompt you to enter the access code of the source device. Do it, and from that moment all your data will begin to transfer from the old device to the new device.

When you have carried out the previous steps related to the Automatic Configuration process of your new iOS device, your newly released iPhone or iPad will guide you through the configuration process of other features that, for security and privacy reasons, are carried out separately. This is the case of Touch ID or Face ID (depending on the new device has one or another identity verification feature), Siri and Apple Pay.

Lastly, once you have transferred all the settings using Automatic Configuration, you can restore an iCloud backup. In this way all applications and data will be transferred to the new terminal.

In the event that you want to configure the iPhone or iPad as new without passing all the content stored in your previous terminal, however, you will have finished once the Automatic Configuration process is completed.

If you don't have an iOS device running iOS 11, you'll need to follow a more traditional setup process. The steps are very similar to Automatic Configuration, except that instead of choosing an existing device after choosing the language, you will have to manually enter data such as your Apple ID or the WiFi password.
