While using our PC, it is normal that the need to install certain applications arises to provide more functionality to the equipment. Surely there will come a time when the number of applications is quite large and we also have many of them even if we need to use them. These programs cause a greater consumption of resources on our computer, more internal memory, more processes running in the background and, therefore, lower performance. In this tutorial we are going to teach you how to uninstall a Windows 10 program and all the ways we have to do it.
Index of contents
Windows gives us several options to be able to uninstall the programs that we have had for a long time and that we no longer want. Uninstalling them is important to clean our equipment and improve its performance. These programs consume resources that we may need for other jobs.
Here we present all the options we have to carry out this action.
Uninstall a Windows 10 program on Start
This will be the fastest option in principle. With Windows 10 it is possible to uninstall programs by entering the start menu. Although if they are third-party applications, it will send us to the control panel so that we uninstall it from there. In any case, we do the following:
- We go to the start menu to find the application we want to remove. We select and open its options with the right mouse button, then we look for the option to uninstall
If it is an application downloaded from the Microsoft Store, one of which comes with Windows 10 by default, it can be uninstalled directly
Otherwise it will send us to the control panel where we will get a list of all the programs we have. We then look for the program to uninstall it.
We will only have to select the program and click on the upper “uninstall” button. We can also right-click on this and we will get the option to uninstall.
Perhaps you come across certain programs that cannot be uninstalled, we will deal with this matter a little later. Surely we will have to use some external application to Windows to be able to eliminate it.
We recommend that before uninstalling an application that we do not know, we inform ourselves of its characteristics on the Internet. In this way we can know if it is good or bad and what use it has for Windows.
Uninstall a Windows 10 program from Settings or Control Panel
Directly from the previous method we can explain this. We have already seen that from the beginning it redirects us to the control panel to uninstall. But sometimes it happens that we cannot find a certain program, or we simply want to see the complete list to see which ones to eliminate.
Control Panel
We go to Start and look for the control panel inside the "Windows System" folder . It is somewhat heavy, so we can directly write "Control Panel" and execute the option that appears.
If the window is shown in category view, we look for the category "Programs" and click just below, in "uninstall a program". If our control panel is in icon view, we look for "programs and features"
In any case, the same sale will be opened to us as in the previous section.
Settings panel
The configuration panel is an application that has Windows 10 implemented. What it does is to display in a more friendly and intuitive way most of the options available in the classic control panel.
- To access it we open the start menu and click on the cogwheel icon. Next, we choose “Applications” from the list of elements In the list on the left side, the tab that interests us is the “applications and features ”
We will have the same list as before, but in a more mobile-oriented way. Choose the one you want, both work exactly the same.
Uninstall a Windows 10 program in command mode
In addition to the graphical options, we also have an option to remove applications from the CMD command console.
To open the console we go to Start and type "CMD". We execute as administrator the option that comes up with the name "Command Prompt". Another way to access it is by using the "Windows + R" key combination .
We write the following command:
wmic
To show the list of programs we write:
product get name
Or if we want the most complete information we can add more options:
product get name, version, vendor
In either case we will have to wait a few seconds for the program to collect the list of data and display it on the screen.
In any case, it will have a list of programs installed on your computer. In order to uninstall one we will have to look at its name
For example, we want to uninstall the "Google Earth Pro" application. We are going to select the name in question and we are going to place it in the following command:
- product where name = ”PROGRAM NAME” call uninstall , like this: product where name = ”Google Earth Pro” call uninstall
When the program finds the application, it will ask us for confirmation for its removal. We write "Y" and press Enter. The application will have been uninstalled.
Uninstall a Windows 10 program that cannot be uninstalled
Even with the methods you have seen, there are still programs that cannot be removed using these procedures. This is because they are natively implemented in the system, such as Xbox application, time, time, etc.
There may also be problems with certain applications that we have installed and due to some failure the uninstall option is not available.
For these actions we are going to use an old acquaintance of many, and it is CCleaner. The famous cleaning program can be very useful for these purposes in case of emergency. Despite the fact that in another article we have given enough compelling reasons not to use this program for file and registry cleaning, precisely the only advantage it had was to be able to uninstall any program.
The first thing we will have to do is download it from its official page, and then install it.
Once executed, we are going to select the "Tools" option and within this "Uninstall". Here we will see the entire list of programs that are on our computer, both native and external. In addition, we can uninstall each and every one of them. All we have to do is select one and click on "Uninstall", the program will take care of the rest.
Removing native Windows programs could cause system failures, so uninstalling them is not recommended.
These are the options that we have to uninstall a Windows 10 program. There are also a large number of programs on the network that do this same function, but we have recommended CCleaner as it is one of the best known and at least in this respect, it does the good stuff.
We hope this tutorial has been useful to you. Cleaning our PC from time to time is highly recommended and will help improve performance. For any questions or problems leave us a comment.
