iOS 11 introduced a new and useful function available in the Control Center that allows us to record what we are doing or viewing on the screen of our iPhone and iPad. This feature is great if you want to explain to a friend or family member how to do something on their device, capture game matches, record a live broadcast and more. Let's see how it works.

Activate screen recording

The first and indispensable step is to have the function of recording screen in the Control Center of our device. If you don't have it there yet, you can easily add it:

  1. Open the Settings app. Select Control Center. Select "Customize Controls." Tap the + button next to "Screen Recording" to add it to the Control Center. Drag up or down by pressing and holding the three-line symbol to place it in the position you want.

Start recording screen

  1. Open the Control Center. Tap the screen recording icon identified by two nested circles.Your iPhone or iPad will automatically start recording the screen once the three-second countdown ends, giving you time to close the control center and go back to what you are going to record.

While the screen is recording, you will see a red bar at the top (or your iPhone watch inserted in a red "pill"), so you will know when you are recording and when you are not.

To end a screen recording, simply touch the red bar at the top of the screen and confirm that you want to end the recording.

The video you just recorded will be automatically saved in the Photos application where you can trim it if necessary.

In addition, while recording you can also activate or deactivate the microphone by opening the Control Center, pressing and holding the screen recording icon.
