Benchmark with MSI Afterburner ? If possible. Inside, we are going to show you how to do it easily. Ready to test the GPU?

MSI Afterburner is a very complete program that allows us to control every aspect of our graphics card. In this way, there was no lack of the option to benchmark to test it and know what performance it can offer. However, MSI Afterburner does not bring it natively, but you have to install MSI Kombustor. The process is very simple, below we explain it to you in a simple way.

MSI Afterburner: access the "K"

To access the MSI Afterburner benchmark options we have to go to the main menu and access the " K " button that is just below the letters of "MSI Afterburner". We show it to you in the image below.

Surely, you have blocked this option, but do not worry because it is easy to activate it. We just have to download the MSI Kombustor, you can do it here. Once downloaded, we will install it as a normal program and, immediately afterwards, we will restart MSI Afterburner in order to enjoy it.

MSI Kombustor, the Afterburner benchmark

We are going to emphasize this part a bit because we have several interesting options thanks to Kombustor. As you can see, we can choose different stress tests, resolution or even benchmark our CPU, choosing the threads we want to stress, etc. For the undecided, it has 3 presets: one to Full HD, another 2K and one last to 4K.

In my case, I have done a 1080 preset test so you can see how it works. When you finish, you can register the results by clickingsubmit ”, redirecting you to a web page that shows you in a summarized way the results obtained.

The test lasts little more than 1 minute and it puts a lot of stress on the GPU, greatly increasing its temperature. The truth is that I find a rather interesting benchmark and, above all, it gives you many options to test your PC in different ways.

As for the stress test of our CPU, it is just that: a stress test. I have stopped it because it seems that we can stop it whenever we want and there is no record. Simply, it helps us to see the temperatures that our processor can reach.

Native benchmark

The native MSI Afterburner benchmark is quite interesting to record our performance when we are playing a video game. The results are saved in a folder, inside a text file. It is very simple: you add a key as a shortcut to start the benchmark, and another to stop it.

Of course, you may need the Rivaturner Statistics Server to be able to show certain data on the screen. Before you install it, try to see how it works. If Windows alerts you with continuous notifications about compatibility issues, you need to install Rivaturner.

Conclusions about MSI Afterburner and benchmarks

Perhaps, there are other more complete benchmarks on the market, but I consider that this is more than enough. The fact of being able to benchmark with MSI Afterburner seems to me ahoot ” because it makes it considered one of the most complete programs for graphics cards.

WE RECOMMEND YOU What is the bottleneck and how to detect it

Personally, I don't really like the fact that you have to download MSI Kombustor on the other hand in order to enjoy all the functions. I think there is a division of opinions in this sense because we can think differently: offer a less heavy tool and download it by whoever really wants.

On the other hand, I was expecting more from the stress test for the processor. It is simply an option that makes our chip work to satiety, raising temperatures, but it is not a benchmark. Likewise, it serves to know what our processor is capable of.

From here we thank MSI for providing us with a free application in all aspects and that offers us tremendous functionality. In addition, it must be considered that there are not many tools dedicated to this type of matter, that is, to control and manage our graphics card.

We recommend the best graphics cards on the market

We give our approval to this benchmark, but we must highlight others that offer better benefits, although they are paid. What do you think of this benchmark? Do you use MSI Afterburner?
