Table of contents:
In order to avoid data loss, and also in order to facilitate and speed up the configuration of a new device when we change terminals, it is essential to back up the iPhone. Only in this way can we ensure that, in case of theft or loss, we will not lose our contacts or any other type of data. For this there are two methods, which we will see below.
Backup iPhone using iCloud
Since Apple launched its own cloud, iPhone backup to iCloud has been the fastest, easiest, most convenient and safest method. Whatever happens, your information will always be safe, and in case of theft, loss or just when you change devices, you will only have to dump that backup stored in "the cloud". Also, once you have made your first backup, you can forget about it. Successive backups will be done automatically, once a day when the iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network and plugged into the power. Isn't it comfortable? Well, let's see now how to back up the iPhone using iCloud.
First of all, make sure your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Then open the Settings app, tap your name and select the iCloud option .
Now, tap on iCloud Copy, and then turn on the slider you see next to these words. The last step will be none other than clicking on Backup now, and that backup will begin immediately.
You must bear in mind that, in the case of the first backup you make, and depending on the information you have stored on your iPhone, the process could take a considerable time. Forget about it and continue with what you are doing, the copy will complete on its own, yes, do not forget to keep your iPhone connected to the Wi-Fi network. Meanwhile, you can also check the progress of your backup, and even check what has been the last backup made.
From now on, as discussed at the beginning, backups will be made automatically, once a day, when your iPhone is connected to electricity and a Wi-Fi network, so your data they will always be safe.
How to backup iPhone using iTunes
Since Apple released iCloud backups, I have never used this method again. The main drawback is that, unlike the previous method, it requires an express provision to make the backup, since the backups are not carried out automatically. In any case, if you don't have enough storage space in iCloud, you can choose to use iTunes to make sure you have a recent backup of your iPhone. To do this, you just have to follow the following steps:
- Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your Mac or PC. Open the iTunes application and connect your iPhone to the computer using the Lightning to USB cable. If the message “Trust this computer appears on the screen? ? ”, Or if you are asked for the code, you simply have to follow the instructions indicated on the screen. Don't forget that if you want to save the Health and activity data of your iPhone, you will need to encrypt the backup. To do this, check the Encrypt iPhone backup box, and set a password that you will not forget because, otherwise, it will be impossible for you to recover the backup. The last step is to click on Make copy now. The process will start immediately and, as we have indicated before, its duration will depend on the amount of information you have stored on your iPhone.
Once the backup has been successfully completed, you will be able to see what date and time the most recent backup was made on the same iTunes screen where you performed this process.
