The procedure for starting Windows 10 safe mode is quite different from what we were used to with operating systems like Windows XP or 7. Before the launch of Windows 8, using the F8 key was the common system to enter this mode. After this the system changed, and many users are now even aware that this and improved mode still exists.

Surely we have ever tried to start in safe mode using the F8 key for our Windows 10. After this action we have obtained two responses from the team.

  • It does nothing and starts normal. If our BIOS is UEFI, it will open a boot menu for the devices. But in almost no case will we get a start in safe mode.

This is because the Windows 10 safe mode boot method is no longer using F8. This key is now used to open boot options or "Boot options" in our UEFI BIOS. In this way we could start from other different devices to the hard disk.

Start Windows 10 safe mode from the configuration panel

The first option that we will see will be to access the recovery options of our equipment from the configuration so that, when starting next time, it will do so in safe mode. For this we will follow the following steps:

  • We will start by going to "start" Pressing on the wheel named "Configuration" we will access a window with different options. We must go to the last option of "Update and security " Once inside, click on the "Recovery" option Under Advanced start click on "Restart now"

A blue screen will open with several options. We will choose the second option of "Solve problems" and within it the option of "Advanced options"

Among the available options we must choose "startup configuration". We will be shown a list of actions that we can perform using this option. We simply hit restart.

Once the computer has restarted, a screen will appear with a series of options like the ones that used to appear when we pressed the F8 key in Windows XP, Vista or 7. We will choose "Enable safe mode".

In this way our team will enter Windows 10 safe mode.

To access the desktop, the username and password will be requested. It is not possible to access by PIN or fingerprint or other authentication methods.

Safe mode Windows 10 from the start button

This option is the simplest and fastest of all. We only have to go to the Windows start button.

  • Once inside, click on the power icon Press the Shift key on the keyboard while pressing "Restart"

With this procedure we will open the identical procedure to the previous one to start the safe mode Windows 10

Safe mode using Msconfig

We will have a third option available by executing the command "msconfig". To do this we go once again to the Windows 10 start button.

  • We write directly "msconfig". Press enter or choose the option "system configuration".

  • The command will be executed and a window will appear where we must go to the "Startup" tab . Next, we activate the "Fail-Safe Start" check. We click "OK". We will be shown a dialog four indicating that we must restart for the changes to take effect. We give "Restart".

After this procedure, each time the computer starts it will do so in Windows 10 safe mode.

To be able to deactivate the safe mode again and Windows 10 starts normally, we will have to run the command again and deactivate the option " Safe boot " that we previously activated.

These are the main methods that exist to start Windows 10 safe mode.
