How to put and use the at sign (@) on the keyboard
Table of contents:
Similar to a tutorial we have recently done, we are going to tell you how to get the at sign (@) and how to use it. It is something simple and very common, so let's go to the topic.
Although today it is a universal symbol to represent the Internet , the at sign (@) is much older than you can imagine. The first use of an at sign (@) appears to date from 16th century writings. It was used to represent objects and to quantify them. In this way, trade became a much easier task to work.
However, we have already adopted it as our own and use it for quite different reasons . They are the differentiators of emails and users of twitter and instagram. It is a symbol that has adapted to the times and serves us for a large number of jobs.
However, if you are having trouble typing it because you cannot find it or it is not directly on your keyboard, here we will discuss ways to solve it.

Set the language
As the at sign is practically universal in all languages, we can find it in most common keyboards. Whether you are a MacOS, Windows or Linux distribution user, with these key combinations you should be able to type them.
First of all, you should check what language you have default in your Operating System. Depending on the language, the at sign will be in one place or another.
To see what language you are currently assigned, you can look directly in the taskbar.
Default Operating System language
You can press the indicator to select another language. And if you only have a keyboard or two that you don't want to use, you can click on Language Preferences to add new languages.

Combinations to write the at sign (@)
Once you have established what language you have the keyboard, you have to know the combinations to write it, so before we will see how this works of combining keys. Look at the serigraphs on the keys because most of them show you where the symbols are.
If it is on top of another key, you can type it by pressing Alt at the same time as that key. If it is on the right, you can type it by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Key or Alt Gr + Key (Alt Gr is the Alt to the right of the space).
Hispanic American QWERTY keyboard
In the keyboard example above (with Hispanic American layout) if we were on the key to the right of the Ñ we would press { . If we pressed Alt + {we would write [. Finally, if we press Alt Gr + { or Ctrl + Alt + { a ^ would appear on the screen. Sometimes pressing space is required for the symbol to print.
With this understood, the combinations to write the at sign are:
- Using the numeric keypad, we can use the combination Alt + 64 (64 is pressed, with Alt, 6 and then 4. Then Alt is released and the symbol is printed). If you have the keyboard in Spanish language of any variant of Latin America (Argentina, Mexico, Chile…) you can use Alt Gr + Q or Ctrl + Alt + Q. Most keyboards tell you that the at sign is there. This combination is shared with the Italian language and the German with QWERTZ distribution. On a keyboard in Spanish (Spain) the shortcut is Alt Gr + 2 or Ctrl + Alt + 2. For English keyboards in the United States the combination is Shift / Shift +. 2. English UK variants use Shift / Shift + `. On a French keyboard, press Alt Gr + à.
If the language of your keyboard is not in the list, try using one of the mentioned combinations. It is possible that, like Spanish (Latin America) and Italian (Italy) , they share a shortcut.
WE RECOMMEND YOU How to choose the ideal mouse for your useIf you still can't find it, you can search the web for your exact keyboard language. If the symbol does not appear on the physical keys of your keyboard, it is probably because you are using a language that is certainly not very common and that does not match the key arrangement of your keyboard. So you can see the key layout it has and where the at sign (@) is hidden .
Final ideas
As you can see, it is very simple, but it is advisable to know how we do things and not just do them. We hope this tutorial has helped you both about the at sign (@) and in general. With this knowledge you should be able to press any symbol hidden between the keys on your keyboard.
