How to know the graphics card I have

From Windows Manager

To know what graphics card is in our PC we only need to resort to the Windows Device Manager, we can access it in a very simple way from the start menu.

Once the Device Manager has opened, you will find the information about the graphics card in the section Display adapters.

As we can see, in my case I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti next to the card integrated in the Intel processor. Many users will have a similar configuration with a card and an integrated one. It is also a fairly common laptop case.

Through software: GPU-Z is your friend

In case we want to obtain more detailed information about our graphics card, we can resort to the GPU-Z application. This small software is free and will inform us of multiple parameters such as the number of processing cores, the clock frequency, the amount of memory and its speed, and many more. As if that were not enough, it does not require installation to function.

GPU-Z will also serve to monitor some parameters of the graphics card while we are playing, for example its temperature, its power consumption, memory usage, the frequency at which it works in a real gaming environment and the speed of the fan. It will also inform us about support for technologies such as CUDA, SLI, PhysX, OpenCL and Direct Compute. As we can see, it is a quite complete application as well as very simple to use, a great tool for every PC user.

MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision

Both MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision allow us to quickly identify the graphics card that we have installed. It is a very common application in our test bench, since it offers us the possibility of overclocking, checking temperatures, measuring FPS and creating different profiles for the fan.

From the linux terminal

If you are a linux user you can use the hwinfo command. Running the following line:

hwinfo --short

Physically inspect the graphics card
