macOS offers provides us with a wonderful function called Split View or "split screen" that allows us to see two fully operational applications side by side. This feature is especially useful, for example, when doing class work, summaries, reports, in which, in addition to writing, you also need to consult information. The Split Screen function has been with us for a few years now, however, if you have just released your first Mac, or are planning to buy one, you will like to know how it works.

How to use split screen on your Mac

  1. While in a compatible application, for example Safari, Pages, Word and many others, press and hold the full screen button

Located in the upper left corner of the app window Without releasing, when you see that half of the screen turns blue, drag the window of that app to the left or right and release the app Now choose the second window of app you want to place on the other half of the screen, and just click on it. When you want to exit Split Screen mode, press the Esc key (or the corresponding button on the Touch Bar) or move your mouse to the top of the screen and click the full screen button again

You will notice that the second app that was used in Split View will still be in full screen mode. Follow the same steps to return that window to its previous size.

If you want to use the Split Screen feature with an app that is already in full screen mode, and another one that is not, invoke Mission Control and drag a second app to the top of the app thumbnail that is on screen complete at the top.
