Intel wants to be very aggressive with its prices when the new 10th generation Core X (Cascade Lake-X) processors hit the shelves. In a report via Videocardz , a price list for its processors appears to have been leaked with some very interesting numbers. Let's go over them.
10th Generation Core X Price Table (Cascade Lake-X)
Cores / Threads |
Clock Base |
Max Boost Clock |
TDP |
Price (x1000U) |
|
Core i9-10980XE |
18/36 | 3.0GHz | 4.8GHz | 165W |
979 USD |
Core i9-10940XE |
14/28 | 3.3GHz | 4.8GHz | 165W |
784 USD |
Core i9-10920XE |
12/24 | 3.5GHz | 4.8GHz | 165W |
689 USD |
Core i9-10900XE |
10/20 | 3.7GHz | 4.7GHz | 165W |
590 USD |
In this (unofficial) price list the expected 18-core Core i9-10980XE sits at 'just' $ 979 (unit price of 1, 000). This is staggeringly low considering its current equivalent, the Core i9-9980XE retails for around $ 2, 000, however there is a very good reason to make this move, AMD's Ryzen 9 3950X.

The new HEDT CPU range will not offer a higher number of cores than its predecessors, but will have slightly higher clock speeds. The main benefit will be the drastic reduction in prices with a range of up to 2.09 times the relative performance per dollar compared to Skylake-X CPUs, such as the Core i9-7980XE. The problem with Intel is that the Ryzen 9 3950X is going to have higher frequencies and more cores than any other third-generation Ryzen CPU (16 cores), in addition to matching or improving Intel's core-to-core options in multithreaded testing. This chip sells for $ 749, which made the i9-9980XE look extremely expensive.
We hope that we will soon receive confirmed prices and specifications. While this information is a 'rumor' or 'leak' at the moment, with the precautions of the case, prices are more or less in line with what I would expect from Intel if it had the Ryzen 9 3950X to do a lot of damage in the HEDT segment. We will keep you informed
