Comet lake, lots of gigabyte intel 400 motherboards revealed

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) database has become a popular place to take a look at the hardware to come. The latest Gigabyte list shows an abundance of 400 series motherboards for Intel's highly anticipated Comet Lake (CML) processors.
Intel 400 series motherboards will house the new Comet Lake processors
Comet Lake should be another optimized 14nm chip. Meanwhile, AMD is preparing to launch its 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X chip sometime this month. When it comes to specs, Intel is sadly still lagging behind its rival in the main war, but at least progress is being made.
Comet Lake is said to be using the LGA 1200 socket, meaning this is the time when Intel fans will have to spend money on a motherboard upgrade if they hope to use the new technology.

This time, the motherboards would carry the 400 series badge. As usual, we will have different variants of the series for the various high, medium and low-end segments. Given the sheer number of models, Gigabyte seems more than excited to jump on the Comet Lake bandwagon.
The B460, H410, H470, Q470, and Z490 chipsets are mentioned in the EEC listing. Interestingly, there is no reference to the Z470 chipset, so it looks like Intel could completely skip that chipset for this generation. The Z490 would undoubtedly be the flagship chipset of the Comet Lake processors.

It is surprising to see that most Gigabyte Intel 400 series motherboards use the Micro-ATX form factor, with only a Mini-ITX motherboard listed.
