Unlike the XBOX One controller, connecting the Dualshock 4 of Playstation 4 to a Windows computer is not so easy. Let's see how we can do it in the simplest way possible.

Connect the PlayStation 4 (DualShock 4) controller by Micro-USB

Although the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller can be used on a PC, direct support is not currently available with Windows 10. The controller can easily connect to Windows, but precise controller input mapping in games is not best.

In order for the driver to work properly on PC, there is a third party program known as DS4Windows. What this application does is somehow emulate the Xbox 360 gamepad, it only takes a few steps for the controller to work.

  • We download the DS4Windows from the following link. We extract the downloaded ZIP file to find two programs - DS4Windows and DS4Updater. We run DS4Windows. From here we follow the on-screen instructions provided by the wizard to complete the installation. When asked to connect the controller, do so with a USB to micro-USB cable.

Connect it via Bluetooth

All Dualshock 4 controllers come with the possibility of connecting via Bluetooth to the Playstation 4 and thus also to a computer.

  • The Dualshock must first be turned off. Press and hold the PlayStation button and the Share button simultaneously. The light bar of the remote will start to flash to indicate that it is in pairing mode. Once in pairing mode, in Windows we go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth. We choose the wireless remote from the list of available devices and select Pair Once connected, we will follow the same steps as we did previously to configure Dualshock 4 with DS4Windows.

This is the best way to play your games on PC with a Playstation 4 controller. I hope it has been useful and we will see you next time.
