The new laptops and especially the ultrabooks have quite small screens but a high resolution. This is very useful for watching movies or playing games, but not so much for reading documents or working long hours. The view suffers a lot when trying so hard to see the tiny letters that are displayed on the screen so it is highly recommended to use what we will explain below to make this more bearable.

In desktop computers we usually will not have this type of problem since the screens are larger, although you can also try it to see what you notice in your view.

Change font size in Windows 10 permanently

Don't be scared to see that it is permanently. We have named this method this way because it is a configuration option that, after applying the changes, remains the same until we change the preferences again. Let's see what we will have to do.

  • Located on the Windows desktop we will have to press the right button to open the list of options. Now we must choose the option " Screen settings "

  • In this way, the configuration options of our screen will appear.

We can also do this by opening the start menu and typing " Screen ". An option will appear directly in the browser with the name “ change display settings ”. The result will be identical

On this screen we should look at the section " Scale and distribution ". An option will be located there which is what interests us

By default the text size will be 100% or normal size. If we want to increase it, we will only have to choose one of the scales above this one.

Absolutely all the fonts displayed on our computer will change their size to a higher one. This will also apply in applications

  • Then a configuration window will appear indicating if we want to correct the scale of the applications so that they are not blurred.

Even activating this option, the applications may not look as clear as in the native font resolution, but it will improve the fatigue of our sight almost certainly.

After modifying this parameter, we recommend closing and logging in again so that the changes are also applied to applications such as Word, which will initially be somewhat blurred.

To revert the changes we will only have to do the same steps and put the 100% option again.

Change font size in Windows 10 dynamically

This option is not as good as the previous one, although if we want it for a certain action it is perfectly valid. This is the Magnifier tool

What this tool allows you to do is assign an enlarged view of the lower part of the screen where the mouse passes. In this way we can dynamically see only the area we want, as if it were a magnifying glass, or also the full screen.

To use this tool and explore all its options we will do the following:

We open the start menu and write " magnifying glass ". It will appear directly as the main search result.

We can also do this with the command " MAGNIFY ", either by typing it in the Run tool (key combination " Windows + R ") or by typing it in the start menu.

The result will be the opening of this small toolbar

If we press in view we will have different possibilities of representation of the screen in Magnifier mode:

  • Full screen: the magnifying glass will act on the entire screen and it will move to where we move the mouse Lens: with this form we will only enlarge a certain region where we pass our mouse Docked: the enlarged region will appear in a division at the top of the screen

Modify zoom jumps and other options

By default, the zoom jumps are set to one hundred to one hundred and perhaps it is too excessive a zoom. To change this we will do the following:

  • Click on the configuration wheel of the tool so that the configuration options appear. If we go to the option " change the zoom increments " we can modify this and make them smaller and more adaptable. For example, to change from 25 to 25

In addition to these we will have many other interesting options:

  • Start with Windows: it allows starting the magnifying glass after the user login Change lens size: it allows us to change the size of the dynamic zoom window Invert colors: we will see the region enlarged by the magnifying glass as a negative with higher contrast

As you can see, we have two interesting options to change the font size in Windows 10 and adjust it to our needs.
