Comparison: bq aquaris 5 vs lg nexus 5

Today we are in luck. After testing the Motorola Moto G with one smartphone after another, from now on we will entrust such task to the new model of the Spanish company BQ, the Aquaris 5. To begin with, nothing more and nothing less than the LG Nexus 5 is measured., a medium-high-end device that has not gone unnoticed by the world market. From this moment and for a time we will be detailing its characteristics in various articles, concluding which phone we consider best. Do not lose detail:

Let's start with its screens: the Aquaris 5 has a 5-inch capacitive IPS qHD screen with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and 220 dpi. The Nexus 5 has a remarkable 4.95-inch Full HD, with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. It also has glass protection manufactured by the Corning company: Gorilla Glass 3.

Now its processors: while the Bq Aquaris 5 features a 1.2GHz Quad core Cortex A7 SoC and a PowerVR Series5 SGX graphics chip, the Nexus 5 has a 2.26 GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 CPU and a Adreno 330 GPU, ensuring good graphics and fast processing. As for its RAM, there is also an appreciable difference: the Aquaris 5 has 1 GB and the Nexus 5 has twice as much, 2 GB. Its operating system is Android in version 4.4 KitKat for Nexus 5 and version 4.2 Jelly Bean for Bq.

Cameras: both have a rear 8-megapixel sensor with LED flash, which in the case of the Nexus 5 is accompanied by a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. Both also have a front camera, in the case of the Bq is VGA with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, while that of the Nexus has 2.1 MP, both very useful for making video calls and self-portraits, of course. The video recording is done in the case of the LG model at 720p and 30fps, while the Aquaris has not transcended its resolution.

From connectivity we can highlight that the Bq Aquaris 5 model does not offer LTE support, while the Nexus 5 does.

We will continue with his designs: the Bq Aquaris 5 has a size of 142 mm high x 71 mm wide x 9.9 mm thick and weighs 170 grams. The Nexus 5 measures 137.84 mm high × 69.17 mm wide × 8.59 mm thick and weighs 130 grams. In the body of both smartphones we find plastic as the main protagonist, with pleasant finishes.

As for its internal memories: the Bq Aquaris 5 has a 16 GB model, expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card. In the case of the Nexus we also find a 16 GB model, but also another 32 GB on the market. It lacks a microSD card slot.

Its batteries do not make a big difference: the Bq Aquaris 5 has a capacity of 2, 200 mAh, while the Nexus 5 2300 mAh. The Google phone requires more power due to its processor to function properly, so we assume that it will have less autonomy. However, the use we give to the smartphone will also have its influence.

Finally, its prices: The Bq Aquaris 5 has a price of 179.90 euros, as pointed out on its official page. The price of the Nexus 5, depending on its version (16 GB or 32 GB of internal memory), you can find it right now for 360 and 400 € respectively, something that is not bad for the quality of this mid-range.
