Comparison: sony xperia m2 vs samsung galaxy s3
Table of contents:
We continue with our interesting comparisons of smartphones with the Sony Xperia M2, which we will face various terminals, this time we will see the faces with the veteran Samsung Galaxy S3, which was the flagship of the South Korean company at the time. These are two terminals with very good specifications and characteristics and that are capable of offering very interesting features today without being any of them high-end currently.
Technical characteristics:
Screens: both smartphones have an identical screen in terms of dimensions with a diagonal of 4.8 inches, however here the coincidences end as the rest of the features are very different. The Sony Xperia M2 mounts a TFT panel with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, resulting in a density of 229 ppi and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S3 mounts a superAMOLED IPS panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, resulting in a density of 306 ppi and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2.
Processors: the heart of both terminals is very different from each other but both offer great performance more than enough for day to day. The Sony Xperia M2 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 consisting of four Cortex A7 cores at a frequency of 1.4 GHz and the Adreno 305 GPU. For its part, the Samsung Galaxy S3 mounts a Samsung Exynos 4412 consisting of four Cortex A9 cores at a frequency of 1.4 GHz and the Mali-400MP4 GPU. Both chips are manufactured at 28nm and the Cortex A9 cores of the Exynos 4412 are more powerful than the Cortex A7 of the Snapdragon 400, however the lower screen resolution of the Sony terminal helps it achieve a performance very similar to the Samsung device. Both have 1 GB of RAM. As for the operating system, there is an important difference in favor of Sony and that is that the Xperia M2 can be updated to Android 4.4.4 KitKat while the Galaxy S3 complies with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Cameras: The main camera is very similar on both terminals with an 8-megapixel sensor equipped with autofocus and accompanied by an LED flash, in both cases it is capable of recording video at 1080p resolution and a speed of 30 fps. As for the front camera if there are important differences, it is that the Sony Xperia M2 is satisfied with a discreet VGA sensor capable of recording video at 480p while the Samsung Galaxy S3 mounts a 1.9 megapixel sensor with the ability to record at 720p.
Designs: Despite having the same screen size, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has smaller dimensions with measurements of 136.6 mm high x 70.6 mm wide x 8.6 mm thick compared to slightly wider 139.7mm height x 71.1mm width x 8.6mm thickness in the Sony Xperia M2 case. In addition, the Samsung terminal allows you to remove the battery and replace it, which we cannot do in the case of the Sony smartphone. Both devices are made of good quality plastic.
Connectivity: the two models have basic connections such as 3G, WiFi, Micro USB or Bluetooth, in addition to offering LTE / 4G support.
Internal memories: The Samsung Galaxy S3 is marketed with 16, 32 and 64 GB variants of internal storage expandable by microSD up to an additional 64 GB. For its part, the Sony Xperia M2 is satisfied with a single variant of 8 GB that can be expanded by up to an additional 32 GB, figures significantly lower than the South Korean terminal.
Batteries: the Galaxy has a slightly lower capacity than the Sony, with 2100 mAh and 2300 mAh respectively, so presumably the Japanese terminal will have a greater autonomy.
WE RECOMMEND YOU The World's First 120 ° Wide Angle HD 1080p Webcam: Genius WideCam F100Availability and price:
Both terminals are sold for about 230 euros approximately, in the case of the Galaxy S3 the 16 GB variant of internal storage and in the case of the Sony Xperia M2 the only available variant of 8 GB of storage. If you want to get the Samsung model, I recommend you hurry because it is already being discontinued.
