Following the official launch of macOS Mojave yesterday afternoon, some users have been met with an unpleasant surprise. According to a document released by Apple on its support pages, Boot Camp is no longer capable of running on the 2012 27 ″ iMac with 3TB of internal storage.
Without Boot Camp, users will not be able to use Windows on their computers
One of the virtues of having a Mac computer is precisely called Boot Camp. This is a feature that allows you to partition your computer's main hard drive and install Windows. In this way, users can boot their computers with either of the two operating systems, macOS or Windows. It goes without saying that this is an essential function for certain users who need to use the competitive operating system to run applications that are not compatible with macOS.
Unfortunately, after the official release of macOS Mojave, it has become known that this is no longer possible on a particular iMac model. We are talking about the 27 ″ iMac released in 2012 with 3 TB of internal storage which presents a problem from which it gives rise to the following alert when trying to install macOS Mojave: “The installation cannot continue with Boot Camp configured.”
To address this issue, Apple states that “To install Mojave macOS on this iMac, first back up your Windows data, then use the Boot Camp Assistant to remove the Boot Camp partition. After the Boot Camp partition has been removed, macOS Mojave can be installed. ”
However, it is not a one hundred percent solution because, although it allows the installation of macOS Mojave, once it has occurred, "you will not be able to use Boot Camp to install Windows on this Mac ". At the moment, the issue does not appear to affect other iMac models.
