Intel or AMD option, which one to choose?

Both the i5 9400F and AMD Ryzen 5 3600 are 6-core, each having a primary advantage. The Intel option has a higher power per core and the AMD option achieves better multicore power thanks to its 12 threads (vs. 6 threads of the 8400). If you are going to use a dedicated graphics to play, the 9400F will be a better option. On the other hand, if you will also be doing streaming or various rendering tasks, the 3600 is the winner. We remind you that you will not be able to use these AMD Ryzen with a dedicated graphics card.

On the other hand, if you do not plan to buy a GPU, the AMD Ryzen 5 3400G is a good option, since it will allow you to play games fluently at 720p resolution and do all kinds of multimedia tasks. If we take away the gaming factor, the i5-8400's built-in is also very decent. eye! To all this, in both configurations we have chosen very acceptable micro-ATX boards , with quality phases and all the necessary connections, including 4 DIMM memory slots (boards of that format usually have 2). Keep in mind, in any case, that the B360 chipset in the Intel configuration does not allow overclocking and the AMD B450 does, although overclocking is not a good ally for silence.

Should I add a graphics card to a Quiet PC? NVIDIA or AMD?

We have not included a graphics card in our configurations above, and that is whether or not to add it depends on the use that you are going to give to the PC. If it is going to be limited to consumption of multimedia and office automation, you definitely do not need a dedicated one (remember that the option of the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 needs a graphics card yes or yes, not the 3400G) .
