Know the crucial ddr4
The Intel Haswell-E platform is just around the corner and as many of you already know, they will be the first processors to support the new DDR4 RAM, so it is a good time to review the characteristics of the Crucial Ballistix modules.
One of the main characteristics of the new DDR4 is that it operates at a voltage of 1.2v unlike the current DDR3 which has a standard voltage of 1.5v, a lower voltage implies a lower consumption, which is always appreciated especially in professional environments where many modules are used.
The Ballistix Elite DDR4 will be available with speeds from 2666MHz to 3000MHz in 4GB and 8GB modules and can reach 32GB in kits with up to four channels. Regarding latencies, the new Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4 will initially be available in CL15.
Crucial also has the Ballistix Sport DDR4 of lower performance and price, their speeds will range from 2133Mhz to 2400 MHz with CL16 latencies.
Regarding prices, the Crucial Ballistix Sport kit from 16 GB to 2400 MHz has a starting price of 212 euros and the Crucial Ballistix Elite from 32 GB to 3000 MHz reach 835 euros.
