Corsair Dominator Special Edition Torque technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

Corsair presents us at the height of a limited edition product. A box very similar to the normal model, which we already analyzed in its day, but it already indicates on the cover that it is a special product and that it incorporates a total of 32 GB.

On the back we have a brief explanation of the product and a sticker that indicates the exact model: CMD32GX4M4C3200C14T .

Once we open the box we find:

  • Four Corsair Dominator Special Edition Torque modules. Micro-fiber cloth to clean the memories. Welcome letter.

The pack consists of a total of four DDR4 modules of 8GB each, which together make a total of 32GB. Its serial speeds for the Intel platform is 3200 Mhz and They present certified latencies of CL15 (15-15-15-36) that are much lower than the G.Skill Trident Z RGB model that we analyzed a few days ago. To function they need a nominal voltage of 1.35v for its correct start.

The build quality and the physical appearance are one of the strongest points of these memories. The heatsink, even if high profile, have a spectacular design… That chrome touch combined with the infinite orange copper bars, are sublime. Why this design? Mainly because it ensures that heat efficiently redirects and cools like the best RAM on the market.

We are still talking about its design, but this time on internal levels. The heatsink on the front and rear is much more "refined" with a black brushed aluminum frame (it's awesome in person). But internally it features a 10-layer PCB and highly shielded memory chips, ensuring solid performance and unlimited overclocking.

As it is a special edition, each module is individually numbered ensuring its certification.

Compatibility is maximum with the Intel platform, since it incorporates its certifications and XMP 2.0 technology. What is Intel XMP ? They are profiles compatible with the main platforms of the blue giant: LGA1151 and LGA 2011-3, that is, with the 100, 200 and x99 series chipsets.

But… So AMD Ryzen? Well tell you that they are compatible with Ryzen but as the general problems with this platform and all manufacturers is pure chance. That is, minimum will work between 2133 to 2400 MHz but if it incorporates a Samsung B memory chip (As we have already mentioned, they are the ones that carry these modules) we will surely reach up to 2933 MHz. It remains that the manufacturers of motherboards and AMD are agree to find the correct formula.

Finally, we have to tell you about its lighting. Although they are not RGB , which we appreciate, it uses white LEDs that are very pleasing to the eye. Unlike the normal model, in the upper area you can see the color (by bringing some holes that let the light through) and it looks great with the equipment. Some images, so you can start to make your mouth water:

We have used a top of the range Z270 motherboard and an i7-7700k processor that we have been using for many months in our test bench. All the results have been passed with the 3200 MHz profile and the applied voltage of 1.35V in Dual Channel. Let's go see them!

Final words and conclusion about Corsair Dominator Special Edition Torque

The Corsair Dominator Special Edition Torque are the best RAM memory kit that we have tested in these 6 years of existence on our website. It combines a sublime design, that chromatic effect is fabulous, 10 layers on its PCB and an unbeatable performance at these frequencies.

In our tests it has given the maximum it can offer at 3200 MHz on the Intel platform. Very low latencies for what we are used to: 15-15-15-36 and a classic voltage on these platforms of series 100, 200 and X99 from Intel: 1.35v.

It incorporates white LED lighting and does not require any additional cables. This year we had other models that needed cables for lighting and it was a real nuisance. Very good work!

Its availability will be scarce since it is a limited edition. Its price is not cheap, but we think it is worth it if you have an Enthusiast PC setup and want to get the most out of your team. Good job Corsair!
