Another of the newcomers to the gaming brand lists par excellence is the Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless mouse. A truly versatile mouse thanks to its gaming design, very ergonomic and with the ability to connect via USB cable or wirelessly via Blouetooth or the 2.4 GHz frequency band with its adapter. Cool design with RGB lighting and fully manageable thanks to iCUE software. You cannot miss our in-depth review of this mouse, because it may be what you are looking for.

Of course, we thank Corsair for exclusively delivering this product for this analysis.

Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless comes in a small cardboard box in the corporate colors yellow and black. On almost all sides of the box we have information about this versatile mouse, in addition to a full-color photo on the main face.

On the back, of course, we will have quite complete information about the product, clearly indicating that it is manageable through the iCUE software. This mouse is, so to speak, the super vitaminized evolution of the Corsair Harpoon RGB, a cable mouse with a very good quality / price ratio. For its part, this version improves practically in all aspects to the previous version, both with features and of course, in connectivity.

We unpack the product by removing the main packaging where the product comes perfectly fixed using a cardboard structure that divides the USB cable from the mouse.

Of course, we will have all the typical Corsair documentation, being an instruction book, warranty documentation and some other extra documentation to inform us of the general characteristics.

The brand has done a good job with the design of this mouse, which gives us the possibility to grab it in the three main ways with highly ergonomic player-oriented sides. We will review all this further after talking a bit about its technical characteristics.

This Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless has a Pixart optical sensor capable of reaching a maximum resolution of 10, 000 dpi, ideal for handling it at large screen resolutions such as 4K and what comes in the future. We already know that a high resolution is not indicative of good performance, although of course it gives us a clue of the benefits of the optical camera. Of course, using iCUE software, we can modify this DPI resolution to the value we want, and also create complete operating profiles to adapt it to our needs.

And of course let's move on to look in more detail at the top button layout as well as layout and layout. Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless mounts next-generation Omron buttons with durability of over 50 million clicks. These buttons have exactly the same features as the new models of the brand such as the IRONCLAW RGB or the M65.

This equipment has, in addition to the two main buttons, a central wheel of a good size fully covered with fluted rubber for a good grip and well marked and smooth movement. In the central part we have a fairly large button for DPI control, which through successive clicks will go through the entire range of jumps that we have configured through iCUE. Of course, it will be possible to configure this button for other purposes if we so decide, since its 6 buttons are fully configurable with iCUE.

To end this part, we see a good design detail by placing the manufacturer's mark on the side of the left button printed in white ink.

If we place ourselves in the frontal plane we will be able to appreciate a considerable inclination towards the outside, typical of ergonomic gaming mice to facilitate our work when pressing the right button and rest the outside of our hand on the movement surface.

The rear area is relatively narrow and with a curve with quite a drop, something that will give us a good grip on Fingertip grip and Claw grip.

On the right side, we find two navigation buttons, although also programmable, in a slightly more advanced than normal situation and with a curved and quite prominent design. We consider that they are not entirely accessible according to what type of grip, mainly due to the edge that is just above them.

The finish of both lateral areas is ribbed rubber with a curved design and very ergonomic to position the fingers forcefully.

In the lower area of this Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless we have some interesting things to comment on. In addition to the 10, 000 DPI optical sensor, we will immediately notice that it is a mouse capable of working wirelessly both by bluetooth or by the typical 2.4 GHz frequency, for this we have a button with the corresponding configuration positions. Of course, if we put it “off” we will have to connect the USB cable to the computer to use it.

For navigation, 4 small Teflon surfers have been implemented that generate a friction surface small enough to move with speed. In addition, we have a compartment to store the wireless USB receiver and take it wherever we want.

Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless has SLIPSTREAM Corsair wireless technology with refresh rates of less than 1 ms to obtain good performance if we do not want to have the USB cable connected. We have maximum compatibility with both PC and Android, since connectivity through Bluetooth will have all kinds of possibilities in systems that support pointer

Its small lithium battery will allow us to run for up to 60 hours without interruption, although of course, for this we will have to turn off the RGB LED lighting in the rear area that is perfectly programmable using the iCUE software.

If we do not want to use it in wireless mode, we also have a 1.8m long braided USB cable ideal to improve the LEG while we play. This will also be necessary to charge your battery.

Grip and sensitivity tests on movement

To start talking about the type of grip, it will be essential to know the measurements of the equipment at hand. Those of this mouse are 112 x 69 x 41 mm, and a total weight of 99 grams. Its dimensions will allow us practically the three types of grip, although in my case, I have felt more how with the type of claw grip or Claw grip.

Its rear area is narrow and with a pronounced curve, so the grip on the palm will be ideal for not too big hands, since in my case it is somewhat small. For players who use fast movements, it is also a very good mouse to grab it on tip.

Despite having a battery, it has a fairly tight weight, although not typical of a purely gaming mouse, since 100 grams is not a very low weight. The ergonomic side restraints with sharp curves and ribbed rubber construction are quite comfortable and provide good support.

However, I must say, for my taste, that the side buttons are somewhat uncomfortable, since in the type of grip on the palm they remain somewhat high and for the type of grip in the claw I find the upper edge somewhat pronounced to access well they.

As for games, in general, I consider it to be a very versatile mouse, both for RPG and FPS, although not specialized in any of them. Perhaps with a claw grip it is more suitable for Shooter games, although we do not have a sniper button. On the other hand, I do see it feasible for RPGs where certain precision characteristics are not essential, the mouse is quite comfortable for not too big hands, but of course, it will be to everyone's taste.

In this case, being a mouse capable of wired and wireless operation, it is worth testing its performance both ways.

As always, the first thing we have tested is the acceleration or variance to the movement where the performance has been the same in the two types of connections. By drawing a line in Paint in a physically preset area and at different speeds. We have detected a small variation alternating movements, although it is very slight, and could be largely due to failures produced by ourselves.

In the pixel skipping tests, we must say that, if we use the assisted mode implemented by iCUE, we will not notice any variation. If all the aids have been eliminated, yes we are going to notice certain pixel jumps, not important, but appreciable compared to its superior range brothers.

Finally, in the tests with games, we have obtained a good performance in fast and slow movements, and we recommend that if the use is going to be mainly for games, we use the cable connection or the 2.4 GHz band. It does not have its own precision from other sensors of the brand, but for occasional gamers we think it is very good.

Firmware and configuration

We now turn to see the possibilities we have for customization with the iCUE software.

In the first section of all, we will have the possibility to create profiles and store them in our in our team or export or import others that we have created.

Of course, one of the sections that we will have is that of creating macros. In order to record actions that we frequently use in games or during our work.

In the next section we can create profiles for the performance and resolution of the optical sensor. We can configure the DPI, as well as the color of the indicator available in the DPI configuration button.

Another of the sections that we will have available is that of lighting. This Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless has a lighting area on the back of the logo. We will have a multitude of lighting profiles, which of course will be RGB.

In the final section, we will have the parameters related to improving the precision of the pointer. With all the options activated, we will notice a much smoother and slower scrolling than when we deactivate everything. So, if we generally use the mouse for graphic design, we will need to have these options activated.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless

Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless is a mouse characterized, above all, by its great versatility. A mouse with a very successful design that will allow us to play tango and work quite comfortably.

One of its most notable capabilities is undoubtedly the possibility of connecting it via USB by wire, via the USB receiver wirelessly or via Bluetooth for any operating system that supports pointer, including Android. These possibilities are very successful for users who regularly work with the equipment and for convenience want a mouse without cables. In addition, the reception radius is around 8-10 meters, more than enough.

We also recommend our guide to the best mice on the market

The feel of the buttons is smooth with all of them well positioned, although the side buttons are a little more uncomfortable. The possibility that it gives us to use it with the three types of grip makes it very successful to also use it in RPG and FPS games, although we must bear in mind that it is not a mouse for professional players.

As for the performance of the mouse, it is quite good, especially when we have the pre-processing options of the point position activated by iCUE. If we deactivate these, it is true that it loses some sensitivity and precision, very little, but it shows if we look closely. Something to keep in mind for tasks like graphic design or sniper games.

This recently released Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless is available on the market for a price of 60 euros, a very good price for a mouse with a very good design, RGB, with a good sensor and above all for its connectivity possibilities.
