15w intel whiskey lake cpus leaked ahead of time by hp
Table of contents:
With the launch of the Intel Whiskey Lake processors quite close, the most normal thing is that in one way or another the specifications of these CPUs appear. In this case, HP has revealed some data on 3 low-power models.
Specifications of the low consumption Whiskey Lake
Intel had already announced this series of processors giving some clues on what they would be like. These are low-power laptop CPUs that would remain within the 8th generation family, and would continue to be manufactured in the 14nm process.
Knowing this information, we now know that the improvement of these CPUs is mainly in the turbo frequencies, maintaining the TDP of its predecessors Kaby Lake Refresh (15W)
This information was accidentally released by HP on the specification sheet for a new series of notebooks. Said information was removed from their website, but they were able to take screenshots like the one shown below.
Although we have to wait to see if they are real or if it was an error ( predictably it was not ), we know that those model names are real. ASUS already has two of them listed in the specifications of one of its new laptops. That said, we leave you a table with the changes between these 3 processors and their equivalents in Kaby Lake Refresh.
Year | Cores | Threads | Base | Turbo | L3 cache | TDP | |
I7-8565U | 2018 | 4 | 8 | 1.8GHz | 4.6GHz | 8MB | 15W |
I7-8550U | 2017 | 4 | 8 | 1.8GHz | 4GHz | 8MB | 15W |
I5-8265U | 2018 | 4 | 8 | 1.6GHz | 4.1GHz | 6MB | 15W |
I5-8250U | 2017 | 4 | 8 | 1.6GHz | 3.4GHz | 6MB | 15W |
I3-8145U | 2018 | two | 4 | 2.1GHz | 3.9GHz | 4MB | 15W |
I3-8130U | 2017 | two | 4 | 2.2GHz | 3.4GHz | 4MB | 15W |
Although HP does not indicate whether these processors have Hyperthreading or not, it is logical that they will, since otherwise they would not be improving their predecessors. In any case, being able to reach 4.6GHz in turbo with a TDP of 15W is quite encouraging and we hope that this is the case.
