Crucial launches new ssd bx500 series with 3d nand memory
Table of contents:
- BX500 uses SATA III interface with 3D NAND memory
- Up to 540 MB / s read speed and 500 MB / s write speed
Crucial, one of the best SSD manufacturers for its quality / price ratio, has announced its new BX500 series SSD storage units, available in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities .
BX500 uses SATA III interface with 3D NAND memory
BX500 drives use SATA III interface with Micron 3D NAND memory. The SATA III connector can be a very limiting factor in the performance of these SSDs, but remember that SATA III controllers are much less expensive than those implemented in NVMe, and that is where the Crucial BX500 points.
Up to 540 MB / s read speed and 500 MB / s write speed
Sequential performance is rated for a read speed of up to 540 MB / s and write speed of 500 MB / s (4K performance is woefully lacking). The entire plethora of common SSD technologies are also present in this unit: multi-step data integrity algorithm, thermal monitoring, SLC write acceleration, TRIM support, self-monitoring and reporting technology (SMART), and errors (ECC).
Apparently these units do not have DRAM acting as cache, another element that could act against performance. The strongest point of the Crucial BX500 series is undoubtedly its costs. The 120GB model is costing about $ 29.99, $ 49.99 for the 240GB and $ 89.99 for the 480GB of storage. Crucial will begin shipping orders today, August 31.
