The PlayStation 4 is slated for another post-apocalyptic title next year, this is Days Gone. Now it has been known that platform players will have to wait a little longer than expected to test the game. In a blog post detailing the statuses of upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusives, Sony revealed today that Days Gone has been hit by a two-month delay.

Days Gone delayed to avoid release same month as Metro Exodus, Anthem, and Crackdown 3

Instead of the original release date of February 22 that was announced during E3, the open world game will now launch on April 26, 2019. Sony said the delay was applied to avoid the crowded February calendar. The reasoning makes sense considering several AAA open-world games like Metro Exodus, Anthem, and Crackdown 3 have releases planned for that month, with The Division 2 landing in March.

As usual with delays, S ony added that Bend Studio will take the extra time to apply more quality to the title. Updates for three other PlayStation 4 exclusives were also shared. The PlayStation VR game Déraciné from FromSoftware will stick to its schedule and will be released on November 6 of this year. Meanwhile, Concrete Genie and Everybody's Golf VR will hit the console sometime in the spring of 2019.

PlayStation 4 is nearing the end of its lifecycle, so it is to be expected that the release rate of major exclusives will slow down as studios begin to focus on the PlayStation 5. What do you think of the delay in Days Gone? Do you think it is justified?
