Dimensity 800 - MediaTek's 5G processor for the upper-midrange

This processor from the Chinese brand focuses on mid-high range devices. Furthermore, it promises to be a processor with reduced power consumption, which is of some importance to users.

Processor with 5G

MediaTek has designed Dimensity 800 to support both SA (stand alone) and NSA (non-standalone) networks, under sub-6GHz. In addition, it has been confirmed that it has support for 5G 2 CA (carrier aggregation). This is a solution designed to offer more speed through the aggregation of signal carriers. The processor also offers support for services such as VoNR (Voice over New Radio).

The brand has confirmed that this chip is made up of eight cores. Four of them are ARM Cortex-A76, which operate at a maximum frequency of 2GHz. The other four cores can also go up to 2 GHz. The GPU is made up of four cores, although MediaTek has not given details on it.

The image signal processor supports up to four cameras, with a maximum resolution of 64 MP. The brand promises improvements based on artificial intelligence, which will help autofocus, noise reduction, white balance and exposure. 4K HDR recording is also supported. MediaTek has confirmed that it will be compatible with displays with 90 Hz refresh rate.

Dimension 800 will arrive in the first half of the year to Android phones. For now it has not been said which models will be those that make use of this brand processor.
