Just a few hours ago, the Disney company has offered a preview of what will be its previously announced streaming video service, Disney +. Along with this, new details have been offered about how it will work, the features it will include and, especially, something that will interest all its potential subscribers: the price.

Disney + will come at a lower price than its competitors

The Disney + application, which will house the company's own content, is quite similar to other streaming television applications, such as Apple's own TV application or that of the ubiquitous Netflix.

The screenshot that you can see on these lines was shared yesterday by Disney CEO Bob Iger. In it we can see a dark tone interface with individual categories for the different Disney franchises. These include Disney itself as well as Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel or National Geographic. Also shown is a section already typical in other services "Keep watching" along with recommendations that, we assume, will be based on the user's own experience.

All content hosted by the Disney + streaming platform will be available through the Disney + app on web browsers, smartphones, smart TVs, tablets, and video game consoles. Basically Disney + will be present in all those parts where most of the streaming video services are already, including an agreement with Roku and Sony for a version of the application on PS4.

In addition, the service will support individual profiles, so that each member of the household will have their own history and recommendations. On the other hand, the content can also be downloaded for viewing without the need to be permanently connected to the internet, an option that is really useful on the smartphone. And of course, Disney will offer 4K HDR shows, TV series and movies.

Exclusive content

When Apple launches its own service, Apple TV +, with original content next fall, and Disney does the same with Disney +, both companies will become serious competitors since the two services will offer exclusive content not available on other platforms.

Disney + will host existing Disney content, but is also developing new content for the streaming service. Some of the announced television shows include "Falcon and Winter Soldier" based on the two Avengers characters, "WandaVision" with Wanda Maximoff and The Vision, a television series based on "Monsters, Inc., " another series based on "High School Musical, " a documentary on "Frozen 2, " a Star Wars series, a live-action version of "The Lady and the Tramp, " two projects featuring the Marvel characters Loki and Hawkeye, and much more. All Pixar content will be on Disney + in the first year of launch, as will all Star Wars movies.

Disney also plans to include other content. It is said that it could provide a discount for subscribers who purchase Disney +, Hulu, and ESPN +, although no further details have been disclosed at the moment.

Price and launch

Disney plans to launch Disney + on November 12, 2019, and will be priced at $ 6.99 a month. This is a lower share than other streaming services that exist in the market. But in addition, you will also have the option of accessing an annual subscription of $ 69.99, which further reduces that price to approximately $ 5.84 per month. Over the next two years, the Disney + platform will progressively expand to many other countries beyond the United States.

Disney + will be released at the same time as Apple TV +, although Apple has not provided a specific release date, but has announced that it will be available in the fall.

In an interview with Bloomberg , Disney CEO Bob Iger said the Disney + app "will in all likelihood be available through traditional app resellers, with Apple as one of them."
