Displayport 1.4 enables 8k resolution at 60 frames per second

Anonim

VESA has just announced the DisplayPort 1.4 version that adds support for a maximum resolution of 8K at a framerate of 60 fps thanks to the implementation of DSC (Display Stream Compression) technology.

DSC technology enables data compression without loss of quality with an excellent 3: 1 ratio. That is why it is highly suitable for high resolution video formats and multichannel audio, thanks to the use of this new technology we will be able to send very large amounts of data without losing quality on the way.

DisplayPort 1.4 takes advantage of DSC technology to achieve triple the effective bandwidth, and enables high-resolution video to be transmitted through the USB port making it easy to implement 8K resolution at 60fps (or 4K at 120fps) and HDR by using a DisplayPort connector with USB 3.1 Type-C format.

If you thought 4K resolution was your goal, you already know that VESA has just set the bar a little higher with the announcement of DisplayPort 1.4.
