In the past few hours, a mass mailing of emails reporting a fake Microsoft Office update has been detected. It is being distributed worldwide on a massive scale. Users are led to believe that an update is available for Microsoft's office suite. Although, no updates are actually being distributed. Adware enters the computer.

It appears that all versions of Windows are being affected by this bulk shipment. From Windows XP to Windows 10. Going through 7 and 8. So millions of users can receive or have already received any of these spam emails reporting the false update.

Mail is still the most used means by criminals to gain access to users' computers. In this case, the email in question is written in English. Also, it appears that the same message from previous attacks has been reused. So some of you may hear the text in question. As usual we find an attachment.

It is a compressed zip file. In this file it is assumed that we find the Microsoft Office update that they say. Although, as you can imagine, this is not the case. Luckily, the threat is not too dangerous, since it does not sneak an adware into the computer.

Luckily, even if you install it, any antivirus can detect it. So it would end up being eliminated very quickly. So, within the threats it is undoubtedly one of the least serious. As always, the recommendation is not to open messages of this type. Much less open or download the attached file present in it.
