Dodocool DA106 is a product whose presence in the current market may miss more than one, it is a Hi-Res music player for users who prefer to bet on one of these devices when listening to their favorite songs, something which is less and less common with the excellent benefits offered by today's smartphones. Dodocool DA106 also has quite interesting extra additions such as an FM radio, something that some current mobiles lack.

Unboxing and design

Dodocool DA106 comes inside a black cardboard box with a very simple design as we can see in the photos, once we open the box we find the device protected by a plastic bag, a USB cable to charge your battery and documentation. The Dodocool DA106 comes very well protected by a high quality foam piece that will prevent it from moving and being damaged during transport.

Finally we focus our view on the Dodocool DA106, the first thing we appreciate is that it is built with a high quality aluminum body so it has been designed to be very resistant and offer a fairly premium aesthetic. It reaches dimensions of 97 x 55 x 13 mm along with a weight of 108 grams making it quite large and heavy, yet it should not be more uncomfortable to carry than the smartphone.

Dodocool DA106 has a 2-inch screen with LCD technology and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, it is a very simple panel but its function is that we can navigate through the menus and nothing else, so we have chosen a low solution cost in order to offer a better relationship between price and performance in the final product.

Next to the screen we see the control buttons to access the menus, skip songs or control the volume, the screen is not tactile so we will have to use the buttons yes or yes, among them is included a rotating scroll wheel infinitely and that has a button in its center.

At the top we see an on and off button that also serves as a lock, next to it are the two audio outputs of the Dodocool DA106, one for headphones and the other for line. As for the DAC, it is a dual-core ARM M3 processor that is in charge of converting the digital files into an analog signal to send it to the headphones. It is a high-quality DAC with the Hi-Res standard that offers a 192 kHz / 24-bit signal along with a SNR ratio of 105 dB and a distortion level of approximately 0.05%.

We now turn to see the bottom of the Dodocool DA106, we find the MicroUSB port to charge the battery together with a microphone and the MicroSD slot for memory cards, in this way we can expand the internal memory of the device that is quite fair with only 8 GB.

Dodocool DA106 is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1400 mAh, the manufacturer promises a range of 30 hours with a charge time of two and a half hours.

Final words and conclusion about Dodocool DA106

Dodocool DA106 has been designed with the aim of offering very good sound quality at a fairly reasonable price without neglecting aesthetics, something that has undoubtedly been achieved. The image quality of the screen is fair but perfectly valid to move through the menus, very intuitive indeed. The handling of the device does not entail any secret and with the wheel it will be very easy to scroll through the different menus. The only downside in this regard is that the menus are not fully translated although it should not be a problem given its simple and intuitive design.

The overall design of the device is very successful since its aluminum body gives it great resistance and maintains a weight that is not very excessive, although we cannot say that it is a light accessory precisely. With 108 grams of weight it is lighter than most smarpthones so it will be a little more comfortable to carry although the difference in this regard will not be very large either unless compared to a 5.5-inch or larger terminal.

The sound quality of the Dodocool DA106 is quite good, better than most smartphones on the market are capable of offering, although we must bear in mind that this will depend a lot on the quality of our audio files. With 32 Ohm headphones the sound is quite strong although we will have to put it at a fairly high volume level, with less resistant helmets and we will not approach the maximum volume level offered by this device.
