We are preparing for the next Computex 2017 fair to be held in Taiwan and AMD will be there to offer us some of its most important news regarding its next graphics cards and information about the new generation of Zen processors, including the new AMD 16-core Physical Threadripper.

AMD Threadripper with 16 cores will be focused on the enthusiastic and professional user

AMD had already announced its Threadripper processors for the general consumer market with 16 physical cores and 32 threads of execution, something that surprised both locals and strangers at the time it was announced. Now, a Greek store (Skroutz) has listed two Threadripper processor models, the AMD Threadripper 1998 and AMD Threadripper 1998X.

Both processors will use the SP3r2 socket, which is a variant of the sockets used by the AMD Epyc, which were recently announced for the data center, will have 4094 pins or pins. The difference between the two models listed is the frequency, the first runs at 3.2GHz while the 1998X runs at 3.5GHz, a rate that's downright good for that many cores.

A store is already listing the new AMD processors

AMD Threadrippers would be focused on the enthusiastic and professional user. The number of cores they will offer fit perfectly for tasks that require a lot of computing power and benefit from the number of threads, such as video editing, photography or programming.

We keep thinking that the launch of these new processors has to do with the Intel Core i9 that were announced very recently and that add more processing cores, such as the i9 7920X that will come with 10 physical cores.

These new AMD processors should be out this summer.
