ECS has introduced its new Z270-Lightsaber motherboard, the successor to the Z170-Lightsaber model that arrived on the market in January 2016 and is the new option within the high-end range of this manufacturer for the Intel Kaby lake and Skylake platform.

ECS Z270-Lightsaber: features

The ECS Z270-Lightsaber uses a 24-pin connector plus an 8-pin connector to power its powerful 14-phase VRM that ensure great electrical stability for better processor performance and increased overclock margin. Surrounding the socket we find four slots for a maximum of 64 GB of DDR4 memory in dual chanel configuration that will get the most out of the processor. Gamers will be able to build a high-performance system in video games thanks to its two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots for graphics cards in SLI or CrossFire configuration. It also includes a third PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot with x4 electrical operation and four PCI-Express 3.0 x1 slots.

Best motherboards on the market in 2017

The storage options of the ECS Z270-Lightsaber go through six SATA III 6 Gb / s ports, one M.2 32 Gb / s slot and one U.2 32 Gb / s slot , of course it includes support for the NVMe protocol and Intel Optane. We continue with the presence of two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, eight USB 3.0 ports, high-quality audio 115 dBA SNR CODEC with separate PCB section, and a replaceable TI NE5532AP OPAMP. It doesn't lack Gigabit Ethernet connectivity with the Killer E2500 controller, an RGB LED lighting system and a Dual BIOS system.
