iPhone, the most popular smartphone among teenagers in the United States
According to the recent semi-annual survey conducted by investment bank Piper Jaffray, 83 percent of American teens own an iPhone. This work has been carried out on a universe of 8, 000 high school students with an average age of 16.3 years. Of all of them, 54 percent were boys and the remaining 46 percent were girls.
On the other hand, the figures rise slightly to 86 percent when we refer to American teenagers who expect their next smartphone to be an iPhone. This is the highest number since this type of survey has been carried out; figures that have increased steadily in favor of Apple, going from 75 percent in the spring of 2016 to the current date.
Without a doubt, this is a very positive fact, and not only for the results themselves. As we all know, the acquisition of an iPhone at such an early age means being "locked" in the Apple ecosystem, getting used to services such as iCloud, iMessage or Apple Music, as well as certain accessories such as AirPods or Apple Watch, without count the jump to other devices such as the iPad or the Mac range.
In this sense, this same survey has found that 27 percent of American adolescents own a smart watch, while 22 percent of respondents plan to buy an Apple Watch in the next six months. Once again we observe a growth of these data from the 20 percent that was manifested in this same line in the survey of the previous year.
