Apple's second SoC based on TSMC's 10nm FinFET architecture is the A11 chipset that is expected to power the next iPhone family. The details of the chip reveal that the company intends to increase the number of total cores, resulting in higher performance than what the A10 Fusion introduced.

A11 is the chip that will come in the iPhone 8

The new iPhone 8 is one of the most coveted and expected mobile phones by millions of users and Apple is taking its time to get it ready, with a lot of news that we imagine will be implemented.

A previously leaked tweet detailed that the A11 was to feature 4 performance cores, with the remaining two pertaining to the efficient side. However, the user corrected his statement by revealing that two cores will be able to handle the overall performance of the phone, while another four cores would handle less intensive tasks, making it a 6-core processor in total .

Correction: it's 4 little cores and 2 big ones, with all of them being able to run at the same time.

This should provide greater performance than A10 Fusion, especially in multitasking. With TSMC's 10nm FinFET architecture, Apple was free to increase the number of cores without impacting on increased power consumption.

Apple is expected to talk about the A11 chip at a special event on September 12, meanwhile we are still waiting for this year's most coveted phone, will the wait be worth it?
