The davek, the smart umbrella

Anonim

A device called Davek Alert promises to help you never forget your umbrellas. After all, everyone has already lost the accessory somewhere at least once in their life, right? Novelty is one of the solutions to this problem that equips these accessories with modern technologies. An example is Davek Alert, who contacts the smartphone owner to let him know he left it behind.

The idea that it can be very useful and uses simple technologies already known to us. The Davek has a built-in Bluetooth chip that is powered by a small battery. To make magic happen, he pairs with a smartphone via an app, available for Android or iOS. From this point on, when the umbrella realizes that the owner left it somewhat far, more than 9 feet away, it sends an alert to the phone to remind you. Simple, huh?

The app was designed keeping in mind that an umbrella is not a constant necessity and there is the option to disable alerts for a day or permanently when not needed. It also brings weather information to help the user know if it will be used or not.

And the team is built to last. The Davek Alert has a robust frame and its cover was created with water repellent plastic microfiber. It still has a button to open and close the umbrella, which works even when the umbrella is open.

For the creators of the Davek Alert, the big gap is a matter of focus: umbrellas are not used as frequently as other items, such as keys or controls, and so it is not important to keep track of them, but make sure that you don't forget

That is why they have chosen to use Bluetooth, since this would make it possible to save energy. According to the developers, the battery life is estimated at up to two years - longer than other tracking devices, such as GPS. On the other hand, you can expect a higher consumption in the paired smartphone, since you will have to keep the Bluetooth connected.

The project was in the process of raising funds on Kickstarter and managed to win the goal, which was $ 50, 000. Umbrella production is slated to begin in June and the units sold for $ 99. The Davek should be ready in October, but we have sad news: the developer has yet to announce whether they will sell in stores in Latin America.
