Dell Introduces World's First 49 ″ Curved Monitor

The new UltraSharp 49 is the equivalent of two 27-inch Quad HD displays placed side by side. So much so that the large space of its large screen can be used either with a single desktop, or to display two desktops in picture-in-picture mode with two different sources, Mac or PC, side by side and using the same keyboard and mouse.

The monitor is compatible with the latest generation of Apple's 13- and 15-inch MacBooks Pro with connectivity via a single USB-C cable that offers up to 90W of power. However it also offers other connectivity options including two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, five USB 3.0 downstream ports and two USB 3.0 upstream ports.

Its panoramic screen has a 3800r curvature with a viewing angle of 178º both vertically and horizontally, which, according to Dell, contributes to maximum visual comfort.

The monitor sings from an IPS panel and LED backlight, with a 1, 000: 1 contrast ratio and a maximum brightness of 350 nits. And while DCI P3 is not supported, it displays 99 percent of the sRGB color gamut. Plus, it comes with a height-adjustable stand that tilts, swivels, and is compatible with VESA stands.

The UltraSharp 49 has a 60Hz refresh rate, but lacks Nvidia G-Sync or AMD FreeSync technology, making it not the best choice for gamers. For this reason Dell is going to commercialize it focused on data analysis and finance.

The new UltraSharp 49 (model U4919DW) goes on sale next Friday, October 26 at a price of $ 1, 699.99 in the United States.
