The price of ssd units would fall by half compared to 2018
Table of contents:
We had already had reports on SSD drives and their downward cost trend during 2019, and that this trend would continue this year. Today the reports go in the same direction, but they affirm that the reduction of prices of this type of units based on NAND memories will have an even steeper drop than previously thought.
SSD prices will drop more than expected this year
Solid state drives are getting cheaper, and there is a reported oversupply of flash memory due to low demand for laptops and smartphones. This year, the price could be cut in half compared to the prices we saw last year.
NAND manufacturers want to reduce the production of flash memory. In addition, investments are expected to decrease by two percent, after last year they were already reduced by ten percent. DRAMeXchange expects SSD unit prices to drop by around 20% in the first quarter of 2019. For the second quarter, it would be another 15%, and in the last two quarters, it would be another 10% per quarter. Thus, by the end of the year the price should be cut in half compared to 2018.
Below we can see an example of the Crucial BX500 480GB launched in the summer of 2018, you can clearly see the downward price evolution.
Guru3D FontSSD units will decrease in price by 10% in early 2019
SSD prices have dropped in 2018, making NAND-based storage cheaper than ever.
Nvidia ampere would be 50% faster than turing with half the consumption

Nvidia ampere would have 50% better performance compared to turing
We can definitely see about 50% performance boost from Ampere or even more in this year's consumer variants.
