The i3 8130u processor (kaby lake
Table of contents:
The Kaby Lake R chips will be available for low-power laptops and laptops and one of the famous ones will be the Intel Core i3 8130U, which is news today to confirm some of its most important specifications, including that it will only have 2 physical cores with Hyper-Threading technology.
Intel Core i3 8130U will use two cores with HyperThreading
LaptopMedia claims that the Intel Core i3 8130U will use two cores with HyperThreading , so it will be able to work with up to 4 simultaneous threads. However, Intel would use the turbo mode so that it reaches about 3.4GHz speed.
As we can see in the table below the specifications of this processor, it will work with a base clock of 2.2GHz, but it will reach 3.4GHz in Turbo for greater performance.
Intel Core i3-8130U | Intel Core i3-7130U | |
Cores | two | two |
Threads | 4 | 4 |
Base clock | 2.2 GHz | 2.7 GHz |
Turbo | 3.4 GHz | - |
LL cache | 4MB | 3MB |
iGPU | Intel UHD Graphics 620 | Intel HD Graphics 620 |
GPU frequency | 300-1000 MHz | 300-1000 MHz |
TDP | 10-15W | 7.5-15W |
Following the specifications, the chip will have 4MB of cache memory and an integrated UHD Graphics 620 GPU, with clock speeds of 300 @ 1000 MHz. The TDP of the Core i3 8130U is profiled between 10 and 15 watts, but can be defined by the manufacturer when applying it to your portable device.
The other processor that we can see in the table is the Intel Core i3 7130U, more modest than its older brother with 3MB of memory, without Turbo mode and with a theoretical TDP of between 7.5 and 15 watts.
We will see the first models with this processor during 2018.
